IK Multimedia's latest release introduces their most advanced Tonex hardware unit to date, combining their AI Machine Modeling technology with a collection of high-quality AmpliTube effects, dual signal paths, advanced routing options, extensive connectivity and intuitive touchscreen control. Said to be one of the most advanced and best-sounding complete guitar and bass rigs available, the Tonex Board expands on the concept introduced by the Tonex pedals and offers a powerful all-in-one pedalboard-style system aimed at both stage and studio use.

The new arrival boasts a dual-signal-chain architecture that's capable of running up to four Tone Models simultaneously, and comes loaded with 76 effects divided into nine categories. The effects collection includes 51 processors derived from AmpliTube and 15 from Tonex, alongside 10 all-new additions, and IK say that more are yet to come. Up to 12 Tone Model and effect slots can be freely positioned and routed in various ways, with users able to create dual-amp stereo rigs, wet/dry setups, two-instrument configurations, sophisticated parallel chains and more.

Plenty of visual feedback is available thanks to a five-inch colour display, which is paired up with a set of six push-rotary encoders that provide hands-on parameter control. Preset, Scene and Stomp modes offer a variety of ways to control the system, making it possible for users to recall complete rigs and change multiple settings at once, or simply control individual effects directly from the footswitches in the same way they would with a traditional pedalboard.

The Tonex Board is the most powerful Tonex hardware unit to date, and comes kitted out with some flexible routing and I/O options.

The Tonex Board is equipped with stereo inputs and two stereo outputs - one pair of which is balanced and provided on XLR connectors - along with two insert points for incorporating external effects. MIDI I/O is available on five-pin DIN sockets, and there's also a 3.5mm headphone output. The unit features a USB-C connector, which will soon allow it to operate as a 4-in/2-out USB audio interface - the functionality will be introduced by a free firmware update that's currently set for release on 1 October 2026.

The Tonex Board comes with the following software:

Tonex Modeler: Capture amps, pedals, cabinets and full rigs.

Tonex: Import, download and play Tone Models (standalone and plug-in versions available).

Tonex Board Editor: Transfer existing Tone Models and presets to the Tonex Board.

Tonex Board users will gain exclusive access to the Tonex Player 2.0 Beta (version 2.0.3), which will offer complete dual-rig editing with all 76 included effects, Tonex Board preset saving and full bi-directional transfer of Tone Models and presets between Mac or PC and the Tonex Board using Tonex Board Editor.

Presets created with Tonex Board will be available to share with the community on ToneNET beginning 1 October 2026, when Tonex Player 2.1 is officially released. Full real-time editing in Tonex Board Editor will be implemented in Q4 2026.
