Roland launch two new Boutique synths

The JUPITER-08 polysynth and n/vision wavetable

Roland have announced two new additions to the Roland Boutique range: the JUPITER-08, marking 45 years since the original JUPITER-8, and n/vision, a new wavetable synthesizer. Both feature built-in speakers, USB-C and battery power options, USB audio/MIDI connectivity and compatibility with the K-25m keyboard dock.

JUPITER-08

The JUPITER-08 draws on the sound and interface of the original 1981 polysynth. Its default configuration recreates the JUPITER-8's eight-part, two-voice architecture, while an internal option expands polyphony to 32 voices. Roland have also refined voice allocation and pitch behaviour to deliver a more vintage-inspired playing response.

The synth includes a two-part, 64-step polyphonic sequencer and an arpeggiator, alongside 17 effects, including chorus and multi-effects processing. Dedicated delay and reverb are also provided, with the latter offering five types and a shimmer mode.

n/vision

The n/vision focuses on wavetable synthesis, using two blendable wavetable layers to create evolving pads, leads and more complex textures. Multiple modulation sources can affect wavetable position, layer balance, pitch and shaping parameters, while Roland's wave-shaper technology adds harmonics through nonlinear processing.

Its sound-design tools include step LFOs, envelope and oscillator modulation, motion recording and extensive parameter control. A drive-enhanced analogue-modelling filter is joined by additional filter models inspired by classic synthesizers, with the same effects processing options found in the JUPITER-08.
