DT 30 IE: New in-ears from beyerdynamic

beyerdynamic's latest announcement sees the company introduce an affordable in-ear monitoring system that has been built specifically for stage use, but comes in at a lower cost than their flagship DT 70 IE. Designed in Germany and engineered with the demands of real stage environments in mind, the new DT 30 IE promise to deliver a balanced sound, exceptional passive noise isolation and robust durability to performers at every level.

The company say that they expect the new arrival will be many users' first professional monitoring system. It follows in the footsteps of the DT 70 IE series - beyerdynamic's debut IEM system that was introduced at NAMM 2025 - but offers an all-rounder' design rather than the instrument-specific tuning provided by the DT 70 IE. As such, it's said to be ideal for a wide range of musicians, offering a reliable, balanced-sounding monitoring solution for any instrument and any stage.

While many rival in-ear designs rely on a strongly mid-focused voicing that can compromise an accurate monitor mix, the DT 30 IE takes a different approach. Designed for accurate monitoring rather than casual listening, its 11mm dynamic driver delivers a balanced, neutral sound signature and boasts a 5Hz - 20kHz frequency range, giving musicians the reliable foundation they need to make confident decisions on stage.

Equal attention has been paid to comfort and isolation. The company say that the physical design was informed by hundreds of ear scans, resulting in a secure, comfortable fit that ensures the DT 30 IE remain firmly in place though even the most physically demanding performances. The system weighs just 2.7 grams per side, and is significantly slimmer than many competing multi-driver units. Three pairs of silicone ear tips and three pairs of foam ear tips are included - each in small, medium and large sizes - and as well as making the DT 30 IE more comfortable to wear, the secure fit also helps to deliver up to 39dB of isolation.

Of course, being comfortable and performing well only tells part of the story - anything designed for serious live use also needs to be able to stand up to life on the road. Key design choices to that end include a Kevlar-reinforced detachable cable, which serves to minimise handling noise as well as being quickly and easily replaceable, and IP54-rated protection against dust and water splashes.
