NAB 2026: Evertz highlights X-CALIBER high-density encoding platform for media transport

Evertz (Booth N817) will highlight X-CALIBER at NAB 2026, an encoding and decoding platform designed for scalable media transport, live streaming and remote production workflows.

The company outlined how the platform is intended to address increasing demand for higher-density processing and more efficient infrastructure usage. X-CALIBER is designed to support bulk signal compression in aggregation and distribution environments while reducing physical footprint and operational complexity.

The platform is housed in a compact 1RU form factor and uses a modular architecture supporting up to eight hot-swappable XIO processing blades. It enables encoding and decoding across HEVC, H.264 and JPEG XS workflows for a range of live production and media transport applications.

X-CALIBER supports up to 64 HEVC or H.264 paths, or up to 128 JPEG XS paths, within a single 1RU system. Its modular XIO blade design allows deployment across encoding and decoding workflows, with integration into MAGNUM-OS for orchestration across managed networks. The platform also integrates with evertz.io XChange to support stream management across distributed and remote workflows.

X-CALIBER is designed to operate within a broader Evertz media transport ecosystem. In combination with SCORPION and XPS platforms, it supports signal aggregation, transport and edge processing across remote production and distribution environments. Integration with evertz.io XChange enables centralised orchestration, monitoring and control of live streams across geographically distributed systems.

The platform supports high-density compression, low-latency processing and flexible deployment models, enabling use across centralised and distributed production environments, including remote production, live event coverage and large-scale content distribution.
