NAB 2026: Evertz to showcase ENX media core for hybrid SDI and IP facilities

Evertz (Booth N817) is set to showcase ENX at NAB 2026, a media core platform designed to support hybrid SDI and IP infrastructures in production facilities and UHD deployments.

The company outlined how ENX is intended to support broadcasters transitioning from 12G-SDI to SMPTE ST 2110 while managing UHD and HDR workflows. The platform operates as a format-agnostic media core, functioning as a 12G-SDI router, an ST 2110 switch, or a hybrid combination of both. This approach is designed to enable phased migration to IP without requiring significant changes to existing infrastructure.

Simplifying hybrid media workflowsENX combines routing, monitoring and integrated processing within a single platform, with orchestration managed through MAGNUM-OS. By abstracting underlying infrastructure, it enables operators to manage ST 2110 workflows using SDI-based operational models. Network Address Translation on each I/O allows ST 2110 signals to be configured and routed using SDI-based workflows, reducing the requirement for specialised IP expertise.

The platform supports scalable I/O configurations from 10GbE to 400GbE, with integrated timing and control through MAGNUM-OS. These features are intended to streamline deployment and reduce infrastructure complexity, with integrated timing and modular I/O design limiting the need for external switching layers.

Integrated processing and monitoringEach ENX I/O module includes built-in functions such as frame synchronisation, delay, video and audio processing, audio embedding and de-embedding, hybrid audio and video crosspoints, multiviewing, and signal monitoring for black or frozen feeds. These capabilities are integrated at the module level to reduce the need for external equipment and support system expansion.

Reliability and scalabilityENX is designed for medium to large-scale broadcast and production environments, including centralised and distributed deployments. The platform supports hitless, seamless and revertive failover across video, audio and multiviewer flows. It includes redundant architectures with SMPTE ST 2022-7 support and N+N power supplies to support continuous operation.

The system scales from single-frame configurations to multi-frame non-blocking UHD matrices of up to 1,536 x 1,536, with full system redundancy maintained across deployments.

Platform developmentENX is designed to support evolving media workflows, including the adoption of new formats and expansion of capacity. Planned updates include additional processing capabilities, expanded multiviewing and integration of BRAVO production workflows within the platform.

By combining the reliability of SDI with the flexibility of IP, ENX gives customers a powerful, scalable and easy-to-operate platform that supports both current workflows and future growth.

Evertz is presenting ENX at NAB 2026 in the North Hall (Booth N817), with demonstrations focused on hybrid SDI and IP workflows.
