Harrison unveil the Flex-10

Vintage-inspired desktop interface revealed

Harrison's latest hardware offering sees them head into the world of audio interfaces, delivering a 10-in/12-out unit which they say has been inspired by the golden age of music. Promising to deliver the unmistakable vibe of 70s mixing console , each of the Flex-10's two input channels is equipped with the company's mic pres and renowned high- and low-pass filters, and include balanced insert points for incorporating outboard gear.

The new arrival includes a pair of local input channels that will accept mic, line or instrument signals, and each feature a variable H-Drive transformer-based saturation circuit, along with switchable phantom power, a -20dB pad and polarity reversal. Harrison's high- and low-pass filters have always been a popular part of their consoles, so it's nice to see them making an appearance on both of the Flex-10's input channels, and those who want to place some additional outboard processors in the signal path can take advantage of a pair of balanced insert points. Along with the analogue I/O, the Flex-10 offers eight inputs and eight outputs via ADAT, and MIDI I/O.

The right-hand side of the top panel is dedicated to monitoring, with dedicated level and mute controls provided for the unit's Main and Alt stereo outputs. A Direct Monitoring section allows users to blend between a zero-latency signal derived from the inputs and the USB DAW return, and there are two headphone amps that can be fed a signal from either the Main or Alt outputs. The interface also boasts a pair of large VU meters, which again, can monitor the signal from either output pair.

Along with dedicated mic, line and instrument inputs, the Flex-10 offers balanced insert points and two stereo outputs.
