Reimagines the vintage BBD sound character

PSPaudioware have now officially launched the new delay plug-in that they were previewing at GearExpo UK. Said to be one of their most ambitious projects in recent years, PSP BBDelay aims to capture not only the unmistakable sound of classic analogue Bucket Brigade Device (BBD) hardware, but also the musical unpredictability that made the devices so inspiring.

Inspired by the legendary Dynacord VRS 23, the new plug-in is said to deliver everything engineers love about BBD-based delays: warm repeats, evolving textures, subtle instability and musical imperfections that make every echo feel alive'.

Not content with simply capturing the sound, PSP say that they were keen to expand on the concept and equip users with some creative tools that weren't possible with the original devices. Extended parameter ranges mean that the plug-in is capable of everything from classic slapback echos to rhythmic effects and lush-sounding ambiences, while built-in filtering, transient shaping, ducking, gating and saturation provide far more in-depth tweaking than was possible with early hardware designs.

Compatibility PSP BBDelay is supported on PCs running Windows 7 or later, and Macs running macOS 10.15 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available. Authorisation is taken care of by PACE's iLok system, but a USB dongle is not required.

Pricing & Availability PSP BBDelay is available now, and is being offered at an introductory price of $69 until 10 August 2026, when it will increase to its full cost of $99.
