Captures system audio with or without a DAW

Depending on your setup, capturing system audio in a DAW can be a tedious process, so much so that Arvital Audio have set about developing a tool dedicated to making the process quicker and simpler.

AudioRoute offers three ways to record system audio: directly into a DAW track using a dedicated plug-in, via a virtual audio input device or by simply clicking a Capture button in the software's menu bar. It's supported on both macOS and Windows systems, and works without the likes of aggregate devices, Audio MIDI Setup configurations or output swapping.

The software installs VST3, AU and AAX plug-ins on the users system, each of which makes the user's system audio output available as an input on a DAW track. It's not just fully fledged DAWs that benefit, as the installer also creates a system-wide input that carries the main output signal, allowing any application with a recording input to capture system audio - Audacity, OBS, Zoom, Discord, QuickTime, GarageBand and Voice Memos are all supported.

It's also possible to record system audio without relying on another application. With the software up and running, users can simply hit a Record to File button via the application's menu bar and have AudioRoute capture system audio to a WAV file at the chosen sample rate and bit depth.
