Sample library developers Yurt Rock have announced the launch of a new plug-in that's dedicated to creating drum fills, and has been created entirely by capturing real performances, with no AI in sight.

Dr. Fill has been built from a vast collection of fills performed by world-class drummers, and promises to deliver superior results to manual programming and standard loop libraries. Users can drop in a drum loop software or capture a feed directly from their DAW, and the software will analyse the signal and provide a selection of fills that match the tempo, feel and swing of the original part.

Once users are happy with the results, they can be exported either in audio form as a WAV file, or as a MIDI part. When opting for the audio option, the fill is built from the drum sounds found in the users's imported part, allowing the results to be dropped straight in alongside the original drums. As well as offering General MIDI, the company also provide mapping support for many of the most popular virtual drum packages, including Superior Drummer, Addictive Drums 2, Slate Drums, BFD and more.

Compatibility Dr. Fill is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 11 and above. VST3 and AU plug-ins are available, along with a standalone application - an AAX plug-in is currently in the works.
