Acon Digital introduce Acoustica 8

Editing, restoration & mastering suite upgraded Acon Digital Acoustica 8 audio editing restoration mastering software.

Acon Digital have just launched the latest version of their all-in-one audio editing, restoration and mastering suite. Acoustica 8 is said to be the most significant leap forward in the company's 25-year history, and introduces a powerful set of new assistive AI and machine-learning tools that have been developed to tackle the most common technical challenges faced by audio professionals.

Restoration Suite 3 has been treated to the biggest technical update, with DeNoise 3 and DeHum 3 both now using new machine-learning models that mean users no longer need to collect a noise profile before processing. The move promises to deliver cleaner results for dialogue, ambience and music, as well as offering reduced processing times. DeClip 3 and DeClick 3 haven't been left out, and now come sporting updated interfaces.

The Spectral Editor, meanwhile, has also received several upgrades. A new Stereo View shows stereo placement on the spectrogram display with colour, allowing users to spot and fix stereo balance without changing tools. a Select Similar feature then finds spectral regions with similar traits in an effort to help track down repeated noise, while adjustable time and frequency feathering makes repairs smoother. AudioFill's interpolation and retouch algorithm has also been rebuilt, allowing the tool to fill larger time regions with natural-sounding results. Extract:Dialogue 2 now offers separate sliders and sensitivity controls for voice, noise and reverb, offering more precise isolation when a recording has issues at the source.

The software's interface has been completely redesigned, too. A new Launch Page helps users get sessions up and running in less time, while processing tools are now in a dockable window and the toolbar can be rearranged and customised. Acoustica 8 comes in three versions: Standard, Premium and Ultimate, and a comparison chart detailing their differences can be found on the Acon Digital website. Every edition includes the ARA2 plug-in, so users get the full Acoustica clip editor inside any ARA2-compatible host without extra file transfers. a dedicated Link plug-in manages AAX transfers between Pro Tools and Acoustica when needed.
