Upmix & downmix software upgraded

Penteo Audio Plugins have announced that the latest version of their powerful upmix and downmix software is now available.

Penteo version 8 introduces a whole host of new features including advanced independent upmix decorrelation controls, enhanced DSP and a new interface with an enhanced visualiser. The expanded Decorrelation Suite then offers independent decorrelation control over every upmix dimension for channel pairs, Surround bed, LFE and Bass.

What's New? Individual Channel Decorrelation

Decorrelate Channel Pairs: Stem modes isolate an upmixed channel and redistribute the energy to the remaining channels. Stem Bypass is expanded to all seven Atmos channel pairs, and Stem Passthrough expanded to all Surround channel pairs.

Wide Fader added for precise Lw/Rw rebalancing with the other channels in 9.x.x formats.

Decorrelate Surround Bed

Surround Divergence dial puts the user in control of how Penteo's phaseless DSP is decorrelated between a tighter front-stage to more spatial diffusion.

Depth immersion setting keeps front-stage stability while tightening control over more decorrelation and ambience in the Surround channels.

Decorrelate LFE

Synthesized LFE Sub-Harmonic Generator across three frequency bands, each can be individually muted and linked.

Music (zero LFE offset gain) and ITU-R 1384 (LFE attenuated 10dB) offer new one-click controls in settings.

Decorrelate Bass

Acoustic Bass mode is compensated resulting in a warm, full-sounding downmix, ideal for orchestral music and reverbs.

Precise Bass mode is excellent for pop and EDM which has a bit-exact, tightly defined downmix.

100% ITU Downmix

Best of Both Worlds: the Decorrelation Suite leverages Penteo's unique phaseless DSP and therefore always has 100% ITU downmix compatibility. Or disable smart defaults to unlock full artistic freedom with any impact displayed on Penteo's Downmix Monitor.

DSP Enhancements

Enhanced LtRt Decoding: Penteo is heavily used for audio restoration, the new DSP improves three- channel decoding sound quality.

Improved rapid sonic transition responsiveness - silence-to-signal and signal-to-silence upmix performance improved with no distortions.

Digital Zero mapping - absolute silence ensured for digital zero inputs.

New Interface

Enhanced user interface: Penteo has a new minimal look that uses the same layout and controls but streamlines upmix, downmix and decorrelation workflow efficiencies.

Improved visualizer with Bi-color Mode: Penteo's 3D Visualizer now displays sound collisions between channels, which is further enhanced by the new bi-color upper/bed mode.
