Softube unveil the Console 1 Compact

Half-size model joins Console 1 line-up

Shortly after the release of their new Flow Studio controller, Softube have announced the launch of another new surface that packs the power of their hugely popular Console 1 Channel MkIII system into a smaller footprint.

As with its larger sibling, the Console 1 Compact pairs up with companion software and offers hands-on control over Softube's range of hardware modelling plug-ins, as well as third-party offerings from the likes of FabFilter, UAD, Plugin Alliance and more. It comes loaded with 16 of Softube's Analog Feel potentiometers, and offers a dual-layer design that allows users to page between EQ and Dynamics section control layouts, with additional sections offering dedicated control over parameters such as input gain, panning and level.

The controller is supplied with Softube's Core Mixing Suite software, which the company describe as their idea of the perfect channel strip. It brings together a whole host of modelled hardware processors, covering everything from preamp and tape emulation to three different types of compressor (FET, Opto and Bus) and both vintage and modern EQ variants along with a selection of filters. There's also a Shape section that includes transient shaping and gating, and a Drive module designed to introduce some analogue-style saturation.

As you might expect, the new arrival can be paired up with the Flow Studio, and doing so unlocks access to yet more effects, allowing the Console 1 Compact to load plug-ins included in the Flow Studio Suite bundle.
