Story Highlights
T-Mobile will have a major presence at the 2025 Ryder Cup in Farmingdale, NY, this weekend. Besides providing a private 5G network as the backbone of signal transport, it will play a big role in a new content offering: live from the most iconic and electric first tee in golf, T-Mobile Breakfast at Bethpage will be a first-of-its-kind pregame show. Each match day, host Colin Jost and guests will be on-air at 6-8 a.m. ET (and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon).
T-Mobile Breakfast at Bethpage is being produced by Peyton and Eli Manning's Omaha Productions in partnership with ProShop Studios and will be Omaha Productions' first-ever 5G-enabled production, powered by a 5G private network provided by T-Mobile for Business's Advanced Network Solutions (ANS). Staged from a custom-built set at the first tee, the show will bring fans up close to all the action at Bethpage Black.
There's nothing like the first tee at a Ryder Cup, says Alex Tyner, head of innovation and technology, Omaha Productions. Thanks to our ability to use 5G-connected cameras and remote production technology, T-Mobile Breakfast at Bethpage will put fans right in the heart of that excitement like never before.
Adds Jeff Price, chief commercial and philanthropy officer, PGA of America, There's no better way to capture the global spectacle of the Ryder Cup than immersing fans at home with the fan excitement and celebrity at the first tee. Whether it's enabling a never-before-seen perspective of this environment or connecting fans to the awe even the world's most traveled celebrities will experience, T-Mobile will deliver the impact that its network can have on golf's biggest stage.
T-Mobile's network presence will extend across a wide swath of network-connectivity needs at the Ryder Cup. NBC Sports will use a T-Mobile dedicated 5G private network to connect untethered 5G cameras capturing full HDR footage and broadcasting to viewers around the world. The flexibility of 5G-connected cameras enables broadcasters to immerse viewers in the famous First Tee walkup and capture the fan energy like never before. A 5G-connected drone will capture views above the course; wireless wearable cams will showcase unique POVs and capture interviews from the first tee; and robotic cameras will bring fans up close to all the action.
In addition, event photographers will use T-Mobile's 5G network and Sony PDT transmitters to upload their photos to remote editors instantly - no runners, no SD cards, and virtually no delays.
Network slicing will be used at the gates for ticket scanning and concessions, and smart tools - Seat Finder, AI-enabled Roar Moment notifications - in the Ryder Cup Mobile App will help fans find the best views and catch every big moment in real time. T-Mobile is extending the Ryder Cup hype to fans on and off the course - with exclusive giveaways, celeb drop-ins, VR putting experiences, AI-connected swing-analysis tools, ticket giveaways, and more at the course as well as in Time Square.
The Ryder Cup is more than a golf tournament, says Mo Katibeh, CMO, T-Mobile Business Group. It's a sports moment that captures passion, rivalry, and tradition on a global scale. It's the perfect stage to demonstrate how T-Mobile 5G is transforming the live-event experience. From 5G-powered broadcast innovation to real-time fan-experience enhancements, we're unlocking entirely new ways to experience the game: on their phone, on their TV, and everywhere in between. This is the future of sports entertainment.
Also, for the first time at a PGA of America event, first responders will use T-Priority to get the highest priority on the network so they can stay connected, even in times of severe network congestion. Essential PGA of America staff will use SuperMobile, which provides intelligent connectivity that adapts to the network needs of the critical operations team in real time as they coordinate athlete logistics, communicate with safety teams, and keep key leaders informed.
