FilmLight Showcases Workflow Automation, Advanced Media Collaboration, and Baselight v8 Preview at IBC 2026

Visitors to IBC 2026 will see how FilmLight is reshaping the modern post pipeline, from automated media handling to real-time collaboration - and get an early look at Baselight v8.

Simplifying modern workflows with FLAPI

Much industry interest has been generated by Netflix's Technology Blog post, Scaling Camera File Processing at Netflix, which highlighted how FilmLight's API (FLAPI) sits at the heart of Netflix's Media Production Suite. Visitors to this year's IBC will be able to discover how those same advantages can be applied to their own workflows, no matter how complex or bespoke.

With global technical hubs in London, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Munich and Mumbai, FilmLight continues to solidify its role as the studio partner of choice, providing deep technical expertise and infrastructure support for productions of any scale. Senior FilmLight staff, including Martin Tlaskal, Head of Development, and Daniele Siragusano, Image Engineer, will be available at IBC to share their perspectives on the future of post-production workflows, as well as demonstrating the innovative features coming in Baselight v8.

Exclusive Preview: Baselight v8

Visitors to the FilmLight stand are invited to an exclusive preview of Baselight v8, the company's flagship colour grading system. Combined with FLAPI, Baselight v8 simplifies increasingly complex production pipelines through intelligent grading, collaboration, and workflow integration. And alongside that workflow power, it continues to deliver the bold new creative tools that colourists rely on.

Innovations on display include: Grain Synth, a new approach to grain simulation that allows users to recreate grain from a sampled region in an image; audio tracks, with the implementation of dedicated tracks on the timeline that yield a cleaner visual layout while enabling precise audio editing and trimming; the machine learning-based Groups View, which analyses a scene to group shots by narrative location and camera angle - greatly speeding up the process of selecting shots for Grouped Grading operations; and many more grading tool, workflow and usability enhancements.

Expanding Media Collaboration: Nara and Daylight

FilmLight will also highlight the latest developments across its extended media management ecosystem, including Daylight - the quiet dailies powerhouse that supports viewing, shot selection and production metadata management - and Nara, the media management and collaboration platform currently deployed by facilities like Harbor.

Daylight is built on exactly the same core infrastructure as Baselight, combining

grading and metadata tools in a complete on-set workflow.

Key upcoming updates for Nara include: streamlined Consolidate & Transcode that harnesses the power of FilmLight's render engine but provides a simple interface for on-demand operations; full, native integration with Frame.io to facilitate rapid cloud review and client approval workflows; and FLAPI Report Generation allowing Nara to deliver comprehensive storage analytic reports.

Direct Amazon S3 Object Storage Integration

In a major development for cloud-based post-production, FilmLight will demonstrate direct read and write support for Amazon S3 object storage across its product suite, including Nara. By providing native S3 access without requiring intermediate file systems, FilmLight dramatically lowers the operational costs and complexity of storing, accessing, and processing high-resolution media directly within AWS cloud environments.
