Overnight, global powerhouse Delta Goodrem placed fourth in the Grand Final of this year's Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna.
Performing at the iconic Wiener Stadthalle, Delta took to the stage with her soaring power ballad Eclipse alongside 24 other grand finalists representing nations from across Europe and beyond. Results were determined through a combined vote from national juries and viewers across 35 participating countries, including Australia, as well as audiences from the rest of the world.
One of Australia's most accomplished and internationally recognised performers, Delta proudly represented the nation on one of the world's biggest live music stages, delivering her signature vocals, cinematic pop sound and commanding live performance to a global audience of millions.
Having previously written songs for Eurovision winner Celine Dion and collaborated with the late Olivia Newton-John - two artists whose global careers have inspired generations - Delta has now cemented her own place in Eurovision history with a performance that captivated audiences around the world.
Delta Goodrem said: Representing Australia on the Eurovision stage and being part of this incredible community has been unforgettable. I'm so grateful for all the love and support from home and around the world, it has carried me every step of the way. Sharing Eclipse with you at this moment feels perfectly timed, and I'm excited to continue the journey we've started together and to share new music with you soon! From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
SBS Managing Director, Jane Palfreyman said: SBS is incredibly proud of Delta Goodrem following Australia's outstanding top five result at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Delta delivered a spectacular performance of Eclipse that resonated with audiences around the world and sparked an incredible wave of excitement and support across Australia throughout the competition. Her Eurovision journey connected deeply with fans both locally and internationally, creating a memorable Eurovision moment for Australian audiences and showcasing the passion and ambition that continue to define Australia's place in the Contest.
Bulgaria stunned Eurovision fans by taking out the 2026 contest in Vienna, marking the country's first ever Eurovision victory after years of near misses and intermittent withdrawals from the competition. Pop star Dara claimed the title with her electrifying entry Bangaranga, a high-energy electronic anthem infused with Bulgarian folk influences that became one of the breakout performances of the year. Bulgaria's return to Eurovision after a multi-year absence had already generated huge excitement among fans, but Dara's commanding staging and viral live performance propelled the country to a historic win. Israel finished in second place, while Romania rounded out the top three.
SBS Head of Entertainment/Head of Australian Delegation, Emily Griggs said: Delta's song Eclipse is about those rare moments when everything falls perfectly into place and this Eurovision feels like one of those moments. Australians have grown up with Delta, celebrating every chapter of her remarkable career, and it's been incredible to see audiences across Europe and beyond connect so strongly with her performance.
Thank you to Delta and her team at ATLED Productions, the teams at Beyond Productions and SBS, and to the Eurovision community and Australians for their incredible support.
Australia's Creative Director for Vienna, Paul Clarke said: Delta Goodrem is a true professional and we couldn't be prouder of what she achieved on the Eurovision stage. She delivered an incredible performance with passion, class and authenticity, and it was wonderful to see audiences around the world connect so strongly with her. Huge thanks to SBS, our Beyond team and ATLED Productions.
A cinematic staging built on transformation
Realised by staging directors and producers Dan Shipton and Ross Nicholson of Black Skull Creative, Delta transformed the stage into a cinematic world of light and shadow, evolving from a moonlit dreamscape into a radiant gold sunscape reflecting the song's themes of transformation and strength.
Delta wore a custom couture creation by Velani By Nicky and House of Emmanuele, styled by Tori Knowles. Adorned with more than 7,000 Swarovski crystals and paired with a crystal eclipse centrepiece, the look symbolised rebirth, intensity and emotional power.
Eclipse was written by Delta Goodrem, Ferras Alqaisi, Jonas Myrin and Michael Fatkin with Fatkin also producing the track.
The start of a new chapter for Delta
Delta announced her upcoming eighth studio album Pure, set for release on 6 November 2026, marking her first full-length project in five years and the next phase of a career spanning more than two decades. The record is a cohesive body of work balancing piano-led intimacy with widescreen, cinematic production across a 16-track collection, reflecting themes of clarity, emotion and renewal.
To support the release, Delta will preview parts of the new material through a series of intimate Pure: Prelude performances ahead of launch, offering audiences a special and intimate stripped-back night to celebrate the album. The project signals a new creative era following her Eurovision campaign, positioning Pure as both a continuation of her recent momentum and a broader artistic reset heading into a planned international rollout.
