Techtel delivers Haivision live streaming system for TAFE NSW St Leonards, enabling real-world broadcast training

Sydney, Australia - 18 June 2026 -Techtel has supplied and installed a Haivision live streaming system for TAFE NSW at its St Leonards campus, giving screen and media, broadcasting, and live production students the ability to capture and transmit live video from the field directly into their television studios.
Designed to mirror real-world broadcast workflows, the new system allows students to report and stream live content from almost anywhere using a portable transmitter worn in a backpack. Cameras connect directly to the transmitter, which uses bonded 4G and 5G mobile connectivity across multiple network providers to ensure reliable live video transmission back to campus.
This solution gives students the opportunity to experience the realities of live broadcasting, both in the studio and out in the field, said Matt Feeney, Director of Projects at Techtel. By combining portable bonded cellular transmission with studio integration and return communications, the system reflects the workflows used by professional broadcasters and live production teams today.

Haivision Pro460
At the heart of the solution is a Haivision StreamHub receiver, which integrates directly with TAFE NSW existing TV studio infrastructure. The system supports up to eight simultaneous live streams and provides multiple SDI and NDI outputs, enabling live feeds to be seamlessly routed into studio production environments.
The system also includes return video and talkback functionality, allowing studio directors to communicate with camera operators in the field and send live program feeds back to them - replicating the workflows used in professional broadcast news gathering.
In addition to the portable transmitter, the solution includes the Haivision MoJoPro mobile streaming app enabling students to stream live video directly from their smartphones when required. This provides additional flexibility for field reporting and mobile content creation.
Techtel was responsible for the supply, installation, commissioning and upskilling teachers to ensure the system could be fully integrated into the Media production courses.
Lutfi Hady, Head Teacher of Film, Television and Live Production at TAFE NSW St Leonards, said the system will play an important role in preparing students for careers in the broadcast and media industries.
Providing students with access to industry-relevant technology is essential for building practical skills and confidence, Lutfi said.
This additional live streaming capability allows our students to produce and deliver live content from the field while working directly with our studio facilities - mirroring the workflows used by professional media organisations. Industry-aligned training ensures our students are equipped with the practical experience needed for careers in broadcast, live production and digital media.
By enabling live video contribution from almost anywhere and integrating it directly into studio productions, the Haivision system creates new opportunities for students to explore live news gathering, multi-location production and real-time storytelling.
