In the sizzling trailer for upcoming Thai drama Master of the House, viewers are thrust into a world where power is the ultimate prize. With the sudden passing of Asia's richest diamond tycoon, a cutthroat rivalry erupts among his heirs, unearthing scandalous secrets, and igniting a battle for control within the walls of the opulent mansion. To complicate matters further, the tycoon had married a maid before he died. Who will become the true master of the house?

Depicting the stark power imbalances between the wealthy and their servants, the series shows how power can corrupt and how those without it are often oppressed - the maids serve as silent keepers of their masters' darkest secrets and misdeeds, while navigating their own precarious positions within the household.

Narilya Yada Gulmongkolpech, who plays Kaimook, the maid-turned-widow, says, In Master of the House, we see an acute portrayal of social class and the inequalities that come with it. When Kaimook first stepped foot in the house, she had to strip naked so the masters could check for scars or tattoos, ensuring that she was clean' and fit for the job. I felt this was an extremely intense scene that we typically don't see in Thai drama.

The series doesn't shy away from showing the darker sides of human ambition, prompting viewers to question the lengths people will go to for power and wealth as the struggle for control over the estate ensues. Each character has their own way of dealing with power and oppression, Yada adds. Some, like Mavin (Thanavate Siriwattanagul), are quiet and calculating, while others, like Phupat (Chartayodom Hiranyasthiti), are more explosive. The interplay between these characters is fascinating and adds a lot of depth to the story.

Master of the House boasts an ensemble of beloved Thai actors and rising stars, all delivering incredible performances. This collaboration between Netflix and Kantana Motion Pictures paves the way for a world-class production that elevates traditional lakorn.

With more time and resources, we were able to develop scenes in detail and enhance our production process, says director Sivaroj Kongsakul. From gripping character conflicts to rich storytelling and powerful performances, the synergy of characters, acting, music, and scores promises an irresistible experience that will enthrall viewers until the very end.

Master of the House premieres on July 18, only on Netflix.
