TK Audio unveil the TK-Lizer 3

Baxandall-inspired hardware EQ overhauled

TK Audio's Baxandall-inspired hardware EQ unit has just made a return, bringing the popular unit back into the company's product range with a fresh new look and some behind-the-scenes tweaks. As with its predecessor, the TK-Lizer 3 includes three bands of EQ along with a pair of high-pass filters, and boasts an onboard Mid-Side encoder and decoder.

TK Audio say that the latest version will directly replace the discontinued TK-Lizer 2, and introduces several improvements over the previous design. The most obvious change is the the vintage-style bakelite knobs on the front panel, but there are also some changes to the unit's circuitry, including revised input and output stages, tweaks to the high- and low-frequency band circuits and an update Mid-Side encoder/decoder that offers improved channel separation.

As before, the TK-Lizer's three bands each offer a choice of six frequencies and provide 4dB of gain. The midrange band features a fixed peak filter, while both the high and low bands can be switched between shelf or peak modes. Both channels are equipped with a high-pass filter that can be set at 12 different frequencies, and there's a cue toggle switch that makes it possible to audition the left, right, Mid or Sides signals in isolation.
