Netflix has unveiled the trailer for Secrets We Keep (Danish title: Reservatet), a new gripping series from creator Ingeborg Tops e (Wildland, The Charmer) and acclaimed director Per Fly (The Bench, Borgen). Blending suspense with sharp storytelling, the crime drama explores the secrets lurking beneath the surface of Denmark's wealthiest neighborhood.
Creator Ingeborg Tops e: I enjoy experimenting with the genre because it requires the audience's full attention, and placing a crime story in this particular setting is especially compelling. What happens when care and intimacy within the home are outsourced to an au pair? What does that stir in us - and in those closest to us? Does it reveal the best in us, or the worst?
Director Per Fly: When I was first introduced to the project, I was immediately drawn to the universe of the series. The North Coast's attractive and aesthetic world provides a beautiful backdrop for a story about social class. Beneath the polished surface, secrets and conflicts are simmering. I was curious to explore what happens when the facade begins to crack - and the human truths emerge.
The six-part mini-series will launch globally on Netflix on May 15
Leading the cast is an exceptional ensemble featuring Marie Bach Hansen, Danica Curcic, Simon Sears, Lars Ranthe, and Sara Fanta Traore - joined by breakout newcomers Excel Busano and Donna Levkovski.
SERIES INFORMATION
Synopsis: When the young Filipino au pair Ruby disappears from one of Denmarks most affluent neighborhoods north of Copenhagen, the neighbor, Cecilie, becomes convinced that something has happened to her. Cecilies au pair, Angel, begins to investigate the rumors circulating, while suspicions of a crime grow. However, the case of the missing foreigner is a low priority for the police, and the newly minted investigator Aicha needs all the assistance she can get. Cecilie and Angel are ready to help, and gradually the power structures and privileges within the beautiful homes start to expose. Yet, Cecilies commitment to uncovering the truth is put to the test when Rubys disappearance reveals connections reaching into Cecilies own family. She is forced to confront her blind spots and view her family and the environment in which she is raising her children in a whole new light.
