Production of the film Good News (WT) has been confirmed, directed by Byun Sung-hyun. Set in 1970, the film depicts a suspicious operation carried out by a group determined to land a hijacked airplane by any means necessary.

Good News (WT) marks the second collaboration between Director Byun Sung-hyun and Netflix, following Kill Boksoon, which premiered at the Berlinale Special section of the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival.

The film boasts both seasoned and rising cast members:

Sul Kyung-gu (The Whirlwind) reunites with Director Byun Sung-hyun for the fourth time, following their collaborations on The Merciless, Kingmaker and Kill Boksoon. In Good News (WT), he takes on a transformative role as a mysterious fixer who shows up whenever needed to resolve problems.

Hong Kyung (Weak Hero Class 1) takes on the role of an Air Force lieutenant involved in the secret operation, bringing both intensity and subtlety to his role. Having garnered attention with his roles in Weak Hero Class 1, Revenant, and Troll Factory, Hong Kyung is set to surprise global audiences with a side of him never seen before.

Ryoo Seung-bum (Moving) joins the cast as the government official in charge of overseeing the entire operation. Ryoo Sung-bum will infuse depth and authenticity into his role with his signature charismatic and realistic acting.

The film Good News (WT) furthers expectations about the explosive amount of acting synergy to be delivered by the vibrant and fresh combination of Sul Kyung-gu, Hong Kyung, and Ryoo Seung-bum.

Director Byun Sung-hyun gained recognition for his nuanced depiction of complex relationships in The Merciless (2017), which premiered in the Midnight Screenings section of the 70th Cannes Film Festival. He also received the Best Director Awards at both the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Grand Bell Awards for Kingmaker (2022), which received accolades for being the most sophisticated political noir. Known for his captivating storytelling across various genres, director Byun Sung-hyun embarks on a new challenge with Good News (WT). With an unpredictable storyline and captivating characters in constant conflict, the film promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
