NAB 2026: FOR-A America announces AI updates for IMPULSE platform and release of MixBoard and HVS-Q12 switchers

FOR-A America is set to detail AI functionality for its software-defined IMPULSE live production platform and confirm the immediate availability of its MixBoard software-based switcher and the HVS-Q12 video switcher at the upcoming NAB Show.

FOR-A IMPULSE updates The IMPULSE platform is scheduled to incorporate new AI functionality within its Graph Editor. This feature is designed to automate the node graphing required to generate system diagrams, allowing users to focus on mix and effects creation while the AI manages the production pipeline. As a software-based solution, the platform allows for the reconfiguration of pipelines based on the specific application.

The IMPULSE platform consolidates broadcast tools onto servers utilising high-speed GPU processing. It provides signal processing, multi-view, switching, graphics, audio mixing, and media playback. The system is designed for on-premise use, with future plans for cloud operation and hybrid workflows.

MixBoard availability The MixBoard switcher, powered by ClassX, is available for immediate delivery. This software-based system facilitates the creation of compositions with multiple layers and allows for switching between cameras, presentations, and multimedia sources using 2D and 3D transition effects. The system includes a media engine for the playback of video clips, stills, and playlists, as well as a compositor for layout creation. Additional features include PTZ camera control via the user interface and GPU-accelerated multiview support. The system is intended for use in corporate events, live presentations, and hybrid production environments.

HVS-Q12 switcher The HVS-Q12 video switcher is also available for immediate delivery. The 2ME HVS-Q12 is a 3G switcher that can be upgraded to 12G and provides 3 M/E equivalent operation using MELite technology. The unit is a 4RU device, offering up to 60 inputs and 30 outputs in 3G mode, and up to 42 inputs and 21 outputs in 12G. It features up to eight keyers per M/E at HD/3G and four keyers for 12G transmission. The switcher includes an IP interface with support for Dante and NDI.

Industry events The company will host a FOR-A Connect' event on 18 April. Additionally, during the NAB Show on 21 April, the company will conduct a panel session titled Software-Defined Powered by AI Equals Fluidity for Broadcast Operations'. This session will be moderated by Satoshi Kanemura, president & coo at FOR-A America, and will feature Robert Seidel, former vp of engineering at CBS, and Claudia Souza, chief innovation officer at Advanced Systems Group.
