
The nation unites around football team's World Cup dream
Warsaw, Poland, 20.04.26: Nielsen, a global leader in audience measurement, data, and media intelligence, has today released its All Screens Video Landscape Report for March 2026. The report reveals that the top two most-watched programmes of the month were the Polish national team's two World Cup play-off matches, both broadcast on TVP1 and TVP Sport.
The month's peak viewership occurred during the play-off final against Sweden on 31st March in Stockholm. Despite goals from Nicola Zalewski and Karol widerski, a dramatic 88th-minute winner from Sweden's Viktor Gy keres saw Poland narrowly defeated 3-2. The high stakes of the match drew a massive audience:
Average Minute Rating (AMR): 5.38 million (3.75m on TVP1; 1.63m on TVP Sport).
Audience Share: 45.2% of total viewing at that time.
The semi-final against Albania on 26th March was also a major draw, recording a total AMR of 4.33 million and a 40.2% share of the audience. This was the second most watched programme in March.
The All Screens Video Landscape Report tracks total household viewership (defined as a combination of total reach and time spent) in Poland across four screens TVs, PCs/laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
Distributor Rankings & Digital Integration The monthly distributor rankings remained stable in March, with Warner Bros. Discovery retaining the top spot for the third consecutive month. Notably, this report marks the first time TVP's online platform results have been integrated into the Holding Telewizja Polska total, providing a more holistic picture of Polish viewership across TVs, PCs, smartphones, and tablets. Indeed this is reflected in the screen share data which shows that one per cent of the TVP Group content was viewed on other devices than the TV.

To see nearly 45% of the viewing audience tune in for the Sweden match proves that football is one of the few remaining catalysts capable of bringing a large part of the nation to the screen at once. Also, by integrating TVP's online results into our All Screens Video Landscape Report for the first time, we are now seeing the full, multi-screen reality of this passion-capturing viewers whether they are on the sofa or cheering from their smartphones.
