For users of the classic TouchMonitor, one obvious question is: what does the TMxCore offer that the classic TouchMonitor does not, and why is it worth the upgrade?

The TMxCore is our vision of a new generation metering device, designed to fit seamlessly into modern workflows at major broadcast and production facilities, as well as smaller installations such as OB vans and similar environments.

The classic TouchMonitor TM7 and TouchMonitor TM9 have long been the industry's go-to solutions for high-end audio metering, helping ensure productions remain compliant while offering a wide range of additional tools.

The core metering engine of the TMxCore is built on everything we have learned from developing the classic TouchMonitor range. It combines decades of customer feedback, high measurement standards, extensive customization options, and proven loudness compliance tools.

Loudness Com plia nce When it comes to loudness measurement and compliance, the TMxCore supports all major international standards already available on the classic TouchMonitor series. This includes EBU R128, CALM Act, ITU recommendations, OP-59, TASA, SAWA, and many more.

On the instrument side, both platforms offer key measurement tools such as Loudness Summation, Numeric Instrument, and the Loudness Range Instrument. These trusted instruments provide clear numerical readouts, comprehensive loudness overviews, and reliable loudness range analysis for everyday production and broadcast workflows.



Dialog Gated Loudness Measurement On top of that, the TMxCore introduces additional measurement types that the classic TouchMonitor platform cannot support.

These include dialog-anchored loudness measurements, such as those recommended by Netflix and others. Thanks to the processing power of the TMxCore, we have integrated Dolby Dialogue Intelligence , featuring speech-gating technology that enables loudness measurements based specifically on the parts of a program containing dialog.

Using dialog as anchor has been part of various recommendations for many years, including the ATSC A/85, and with TMxCore, this is now supported.

Therefore, TMxCore offers dialog gated versions of Loudness Summation, Numeric, and the Loudness Range instruments.

Classic Met ering Both platforms offer the same classic metering instruments, including PPM, Moving Coil, Stereo Correlator, Vectorscope, Realtime Analyzer, and Chart.

These proven tools remain essential for everyday level monitoring, phase control, stereo image analysis, frequency balance, and long-term loudness tracking.

Because the TMxCore supports a wider range of immersive audio formats, it can also provide higher channel-count versions of instruments such as the PPM that are not available on the classic TouchMonitor.

For productions up to 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos, however, the metering experience will be very similar, ensuring a familiar workflow for existing TouchMonitor users.

Immersive Metering While the classic TouchMonitor already offers a strong set of tools for immersive audio metering, the TMxCore takes immersive monitoring to the next level with broader format support, higher channel counts, greater processing power, and more advanced visualization options.

Both platforms include dedicated immersive metering tools such as the Immersive Sound Analyzer and the Multi Correlator.

In addition, the TMxCore expands the immersive toolset with two further instruments: the Polarscope and the Matrix Correlator. These provide even deeper insight into spatial balance, channel relationships, and immersive mix integrity.

The Ratio Instrument Unlike the classic TouchMonitor, TMxCore features the Ratio Instrument, a versatile tool designed to compare two measurement values. These values can originate from the same audio signal or from two separate audio sources, making it useful in a wide range of production and broadcast scenarios.

It can be used for dialog intelligibility related measurements such as BDR (Background-to-Dialog Ratio) or LDR (Loudness-to-Dialog Ratio), and it is equally valuable for comparing loudness differences between two independent sources.

Dialog IntelligibilityWhile the classic TouchMonitor offers only limited tools for assessing dialog intelligibility, TMxCore supports the full range of relevant measurement approaches, from established loudness-based methods to the latest AI-driven technologies.

TMxCore also incorporates the newest developments from Fraunhofer IDMT in the field of dialog intelligibility, delivering advanced and objective analysis for today's production and broadcast environments.

Audio inputs and outputs Both platforms offer the same redundant AoIP I/O options, available in two versions: Dante and RAVENNA / AES67 / ST 2110.

In addition to AoIP, both are also available in analog and digital AES versions.

The classic TouchMonitor also offers SDI connectivity, which the TMxCore does not, as SDI workflows are gradually being replaced by AoIP-based solutions.

Display Output While both the classic TouchMonitor and the TMxCore provide output for a physical display, there is a significant difference between the two.

The classic TouchMonitor offers a VGA output with resolutions up to 1024 600. In contrast, the TMxCore features a high-performance digital display output supporting resolutions up to 4K (3840 2160).

Both versions offer USB connectivity for connecting a keyboard and mouse, and they offer physical GPIO using an RJ-12 connector. The power supply is the same for both devices.

Ready for Integration Unlike the classic TouchMonitor, TMxCore is purpose-built for integration in larger facilities. Designed from the ground up as a network device, it enables efficient remote operation and centralized workflows across modern production environments.
