Midnight in Vegas have been revealed as the fourth act set to compete on The Late Late Show Opening Act

The search for Ireland's newest country music star takes place live on Friday 17 April on RT One and RT Player

Girlband Midnight in Vegas have today been announced as the fourth act set to compete on The Late Late Show Opening Act this week. Midnight in Vegas are one of five acts that will perform live on the first ever The Late Late Show Opening Act on Friday 17 April on RT One and RT Player.

Each act is in with a chance of winning the opportunity to open for GRAMMY winner Shania Twain when she takes to the stage in Limerick's Thomond Park this July. The girls will also win a spot on the annual Late Late Show Country Special presented by Patrick Kielty later this year.

Midnight in Vegas, comprised of three singers, Keli-Ann Corcoran from Dublin, Phoebe Dipple from Waterford and Jamie Sullivan from Essex, were revealed as the fourth act competing on the show in an interview on Today with David McCullagh on RT Radio 1 this morning. Paddy Treacy was the first competitor to be shared on Monday, Jesse Sludds was announced on Tuesday and Caitlin Mackin was revealed on Wednesday. The final contestant will be announced tomorrow.

Band member Keli-Ann said: I'm most excited about our performance on Friday night and getting to the opportunity to sing on national television. We've put so much work into creating something fresh and new that will appeal to a wide demographic, including the younger generation of Ireland. We hope the viewers will support us after they see how much hard work has gone into it. That's what this whole competition is about to find something a little bit different and an act that can put on a show and open for The Late Late Show Country Special and open for Shania Twain in Thomond Park in Limerick this year.

It would be such an honour to be chosen as Ireland's newest country music act, that would just mean the world to us. We have worked so hard to get to this point and we feel that now is our time and our chance to show Ireland what we can do. We are ready to give it everything we've got! I also think it's time for a new girlband to emerge from Ireland and put country music and Ireland back on the map again. Country music has always been a part of Ireland's past, but we want to make sure it's part of its future.

One further hopeful will be unveiled on Today with David McCullagh on RT Radio 1, between 9-11am tomorrow, with listeners getting to hear from them for the first time.

The five finalists will compete on The Late Late Show Opening Act on Friday 17 April on RT One at 9:35pm.
