The NCAA Men's College World Series gets underway on Friday afternoon in Omaha, Nebraska and, once again, ESPN is on site to cover the week-long event from first pitch to the crowning of a champion.

The series, which runs from June 13-23 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha, will be loaded with technology enhancements, including a live drone, a camera on the mask of the home plate umpire, a two-point cabled aerial camera system, and nearly 100 microphones peppered around the facility.

ESPN will enhance its presentation of the MCWS will deeper real-time data through a partnership with TrackMan. The radar system helps the graphics team by feeding them with instant data ranging from pitch speeds to home run distance, exit velocity, launch angle, and more. It's the kind of data that has become synonymous with MLB broadcasts.

An alternate feed of the game will be available on ESPN+ in the form of UmpCam. Utilize a camera on the mask of the home plate umpire, viewers of this alternate feed will watch much of the game live from the ump's behind-the-plate perspective. That alternate feed will also air on ESPNU during the Finals.

As mentioned, a two-point cabled aerial camera system SupraCam has been rigged up at Charles Schwab Field. The camera's flight path extends along the right field line, anchored the stadium stands in right field and connecting to behind and above home plate.

ESPN's operations team has also put a significant amount of effort and resources behind the audio of this year's MCWS. There are nearly 75 effects microphones (including radio frequency mics) all around the ballpark. Mics are in each of the bases and under home plate, buried in the pitcher's mound, the outfield warning track, and in the outfield wall. When combined with all of the commentator, studio, and additional talent microphones, there are nearly 100 audio acquisition devices in use on any given day.

Every pitch of the MCWS will air on ESPN platforms with the best-of-three MCWS Finals beginning Saturday, June 21. Among the programming highlights: Game 2 of the Finals will air on ABC on Sunday, June 22 (2:30 p.m. ET), marking the second year in a row that that game will make its way to broadcast television.

ESPN will have a pregame and postgame set positioned at the park. Additionally, both the SEC Network and the ACC Network will have live studio programming emanating live from Omaha. The SEC has two teams there in LSU and Arkansas, while the ACC is repped by Louisville.

ESPN, of course, has an extensive history with the College World Series, having exclusively broadcast the event since 2003. The network has also been broadcasting College World Series games in some capacity since the network's inception in 1980.
