The InfoComm Show kicks off tomorrow in Orlando. Though born to support installed AV, the annual show has evolved to encompass live-event production. In fact, the Orlando Orange County Convention Center is pretty much the only venue in the U.S. that can offer demos of the increasingly large sound systems that were developed for music touring, such as L-Acoustics' K2 and d&b audiotechnik's T- and V-Series speakers, but whose manufacturers have adapted versions for installed applications (look for the telltale i in updated alpha-numeric monikers).
Now routinely used as the PA systems for major-league (and, increasingly, minor-league) stadiums and arenas, they only improve the sonic environment of the venues but also help sell them as event and concert locations, something almost every professional and collegiate sports venue now has to include in its bond proposals.
The InfoComm Show is where the people who design, build, and fit-out these venues come to evaluate them, in the convention center's cavernous demo rooms, where the sound-system subwoofers can roll out a proper, foundation-shaking 20-Hz wavelength. That's what venue professionals - and fans - have come to expect. But vendors on the exhibit floor will be touting a wide variety of productions for broadcast as well. Here's a look at some of them.
Audio-Technica (Booth 3716) - Beamforming is a big trend in microphones, and A-T will be showing its ATND1061 beamforming ceiling array microphone, enhanced with new firmware for features like camera control and voice lift. Also on display, a DECT wireless system offers simple, smart, and scalable high-quality audio, and System 20 Pro, the successor to the System 10 Pro, features new applications. The booth's standout feature: a live demo connecting visitors with Audio-Technica's System Solution Lab in Ohio. Sessions will simulate real-world scenarios, enabling visitors to experience the performance of various products in a hands-on environment.
Clear-Com FreeSpeak Icon beltpack
Clear-Com (Booth 4154) - New at InfoComm will be the FreeSpeak Icon beltpack, a next-generation wireless unit with eight channel buttons, a configurable reply key, and Bluetooth 5.3 support. The beltpack delivers the convenience of a wireless panel in a compact, portable form factor, suitable for dynamic productions requiring high mobility and control. Arcadia updates, the latest addition to Clear-Com's flagship intercom platform, deliver expanded capacity, enhanced flexibility, and streamlined connectivity. Arcadia's latest firmware introduces support for the V-Series IrisX panels, allowing users to deploy up to 32 panels with essential features via I.V. ports and making advanced keypanel workflows accessible without requiring a full matrix frame. To support advanced configuration, Arcadia also introduces a flexible port-allocation model, allowing HelixNet and I.V. ports to be dynamically adjusted to meet system needs and giving users the ability to optimize their setup with up to 32 I.V. connections, thus maximizing system resources without adding hardware.
Studer Vista V mixing console
EvertzAV (Booth 1910) - The latest enhancements to the DreamCatcher BRAVO Studio virtual-production suite and Studer Audio solutions will allow booth visitors to experience live event production empowered at any scale. For audio mixing, BRAVO Studio integrates with Studer Vista digital mixing consoles, offering full-featured audio capabilities either through multi-fader mixing consoles or Evertz VUE for remote control. InfoComm visitors can see Studer 32-fader Vista V in action, including remote-control capabilities and full VISTA in VUE connectivity.
Lawo mc 36 audio-production console
Lawo (Booth 5981) - The company's latest in flexible IP-based infrastructure for audio, video, and control is designed for stadiums, arenas, and corporate broadcast applications. Making their InfoComm debut are the latest HOME Apps with Lawo Workspaces - a browser-based user interface concept that allows intuitive access to HOME functionality from any desktop, laptop, tablet, smartphone, or AR headset. The Workspaces combine audio, video, and control tools in a customizable environment, offering operators a clear, low-latency interface for a wide variety of production tasks. The first three Workspace-enabled apps - HOME Commentary, HOME Video Monitor, and HOME mc crystal Controller - cover commentary, monitoring, and mixing scenarios. Another highlight will be the HOME mc DSP app, an IP-native audio engine that delivers Lawo's processing performance via COTS servers, whether paired with an mc console or used independently. Lawo's mc 36 audio-production console - which supports 44.1-kHz, 48-kHz, and 96-kHz native IP connectivity, including ST2022-7 redundancy, and offers built-in MADI and AES3 I/O - has just been upgraded to 384 DSP channels.
Pliant CXD-32CF Digital Audio Network Interface
Pliant Technologies (Booth 5049) - Two new additions to the CrewCom system will be showcased: the CXD-32CF 32 32 I/O Digital Audio Network Interface and the new PBT-6BAY-01 six-bay battery charger. The newly available PHS-IEHU in-ear universal-fit miniature headset will also be on display. The CXD-32CF 32 32 I/O 48-kHz I/O device supports Dante and AES67 and provides routing and expansion capabilities into and out of a CrewNet infrastructure via EtherCon Copper and Dual LC Fiber connections. The half-rack device can be powered with either net power over a CrewNet copper connection or via the supplied 48-VDC power supply (PPS-48V-02)
