In our latest blog, Laura Rognoni highlights key points from the webinar on hyper-personalization held on March 20th 2025, hosted by XroadMedia and featuring insights from 4iG and NAGRAVISION. The discussion shed light on the transformative impact of personalization, emerging trends, and how our collaboration with XroadMedia is redefining user experiences through NAGRAVISION's OpenTV solution.
The streaming industry is in constant flux, and success hinges on deeply understanding consumer needs, behaviours, and preferences. One-size-fits-all recommendations are a thing of the past and hyper-personalization is now the gold standard.
These sentiments were echoed at recent industry events like the Connected TV World Summit and set the stage perfectly for our webinar. Hosted by Tom Dvorak, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer at XroadMedia, and featuring Arpad Jordan from 4iG and Ben Gidley from NAGRAVISION, the session delved into how personalization drives engagement, retention, and subscriber loyalty in today's hyper-competitive market.
Meeting Growing User Expectations Central to the session was our partnership with XroadMedia. By integrating their advanced personalization solution into the OpenTV platform, we've enabled 4iG to deliver a PayTV experience that rivals the best of streaming-dynamic, engaging, and uniquely tailored to individual preferences.
A Google Cloud survey quoted in the webinar revealed that 81% of TV viewers expect hyper-personalized experiences-expectations that go far beyond recommendations to encompass the entire entertainment journey. This was a key motivator for 4iG in partnering with NAGRAVISION and XroadMedia. Together, we're creating a bridge between traditional PayTV and the seamless streaming experiences that 4iG's consumers' demand.
Beyond The Surface of Personalization As discussed during the webinar, viewers are spoilt for choice in today's crowded streaming landscape. Winning this war of attention' isn't just about offering great content-it's about delivering a personalized, immersive experience. Ben Gidley described how NAGRAVISION has been implementing several key strategies, that include designing a dynamic, user-centric UX that feels intuitive and unique to everyone; leveraging data-driven segmentation to deliver tailored offers to specific user groups; enhancing engagement through hard and soft bundling of curated packages; and ultimately building integrated ecosystems with partners like XroadMedia, powered by OpenTV, to streamline personalization at scale. NAGRAVISION's key goal in delivering powerful, pre-integrated solutions like OpenTV is to outpace even the best-of-breed options, enabling long-term business growth.
One of the most intriguing themes of the webinar was the revelation that personalized UIs are merely the starting point. Fully engaging users requires a more holistic and multi-faceted approach-one that extends well beyond the interface and touches every aspect of interaction with the platform. NAGRAVISION and XroadMedia underscore the necessity of harmonizing editorial expertise with algorithmic sophistication and AI-powered insights, effectively bridging the gap between these two traditionally separate domains to craft a richer, more compelling proposition.
For instance, 4iG explained how their approach combines sophisticated algorithmic offers with curated editorial recommendations to enhance user engagement. A key example of this is their use of an automated manual gallery, which serves as a prime editorial space to highlight and promote essential content. This gallery works in tandem with their ability to showcase bundling opportunities seamlessly on the homepage.
OpenTV: The Heart of Next-Generation Personalization At the core of NAGRAVISION's personalization efforts is OpenTV, a robust ecosystem that integrates analytics, AI, content management systems (CMS), and aggregation partners to deliver unparalleled experiences. Arpad Jordan, from 4iG, described how this involves leveraging innovative features such as A/B testing to identify optimal strategies for engagement, as well as using filtering algorithms to tailor content based on user behavior and leveraging actionable insights into content performance. Ultimately, enabling smarter bundling and presentation decisions.
The webinar highlighted OpenTV's Rails Builder tool, which dynamically curates' content in response to real-world events, such as major sports games or new show launches. For example, a Champions League rail-elevated to a prominent position with deep links to platforms that are partnered with 4iG, like RTL+, ensures visibility and easy access. Paired with the understanding not just of what viewers watch, but why-whether it's a favourite team, a thrilling match, or a passion for the sport itself.
Fueling Success Through Collaboration The results of NAGRAVISION's collaboration with XroadMedia speak for themselves. Early data from 4iG highlights significant improvements, including higher NPS scores and increased customer retention-demonstrating the tangible value of collaborative innovation. Additionally, the pre-integrated solution enabled an incredibly fast time to market, going live in less than a year and accelerating the delivery of enhanced customer experiences.
The success of our partnership with XroadMedia and 4iG underscores the unique capabilities of the OpenTV solution. Offering a pre-integrated platform that supports all business models, we empower partners to deliver hyper-personalized experiences that resonate at every touchpoint. Together, we're not just scaling smarter-we're creating meaningful change in the streaming world, one personalized experience at a time.
