Territory Group Launches Lux Meridian, New AI-Native Film and Television Production Studio

Built on Territory Studio's cinematic expertise and Cantina Creative's strengths, the new studio combines Hollywood production experience with AI-native workflows, industry partnerships, and original storytelling.

Territory Group today announced the launch of Lux Meridian, a new AI-native film and television production studio built on the creative and technical expertise of Territory Studio and Cantina Creative.

Rather than operating as an AI technology company, Lux Meridian is a production studio that brings together experienced filmmakers, directors, showrunners, and creative technology partners to develop and deliver original film and television content.

It's one thing to generate a stunning image, but another to deliver a film a director can stand behind, explains David Sheldon-Hicks, Territory Group, CEO. We're combining decades of Hollywood production experience with emerging AI technologies to give filmmakers greater creative freedom without compromising storytelling, quality, or production standards.

The founding teams bring experience from major Hollywood franchises, including Avatar, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Dune, with expertise spanning visual effects, cinematic design, and production delivery.

Lux Meridian will develop theatrical features, premium episodic series, animated films, and emerging long-form storytelling formats, integrating AI-native workflows with established filmmaking practices.

The studio launches with significant production momentum, including a year-long content collaboration with a major Hollywood studio and development partnerships with established Hollywood directors.

Lux Meridian also draws on its collaboration with Adobe's Firefly Foundry, an initiative that enables custom generative AI models built using authorized, proprietary creative material. These models help filmmakers develop original characters, environments, and cinematic worlds while maintaining artistic control and protecting intellectual property.

This approach has already been explored with Adobe on director Brad Peyton's Dark Zone, addressing the challenge of developing proprietary AI models for original film IP when existing training material is limited.

The challenge now is making these technologies work across an entire production. Lux Meridian is focused on delivering that consistency at scale, with filmmakers guiding the process from development to final cut.
