Datamosh, slit-scan, camcorder looks, blob tracking and 3D point clouds, as native effects on the Resolve timeline

Paperwolf Studio today released its first collection of eight creative OpenFX plugins for DaVinci Resolve. Each plugin turns a look that usually needs a separate app, a long node tree or an export round trip into a single effect that runs live on the Resolve timeline.

The eight plugins TRACE: Blob tracking and machine-vision overlays: boxes, feature points, links and live numbers that follow the subject through the shot.

GLYPH: Rebuilds footage from characters: 21 character sets, any font, your own text, words that fill the subject, digital rain and decoding text.

MELT: Real datamosh, built like a broken video decoder: at a cut the new shot's keyframe never arrives and its motion drags the last picture along.

CHRONO: Every part of the frame from a different moment: slit-scan in lines, rings or by brightness, echoes and trails, motion extraction, stutter and contact sheets.

BITCRUSH: 1-bit and limited-palette dithering with 25 hardware and print palettes, 15 dithering methods, and LCD, CRT and ink-on-paper display emulation.

FOUND: A camcorder simulator that runs the picture through the real device chain (lens and sensor, camera electronics, tape or codec, playback and on-screen display), from a 1989 VHS-C camcorder to a 2009 pocket cam.

OPERATOR: Turns a locked-off shot into handheld footage, with an operator who breathes, drifts and corrects framing, plus rolling shutter and motion blur that follow the move.

SONAR: Turns footage into a 3D scene of points, lines and surfaces from AI-estimated depth, with an orbiting camera, depth scans, contour lines and disperse effects.

Every plugin ships with curated looks to start from (between 9 and 16 per plugin) and an Inspector that shows only the controls that change the picture.

Availability and pricing The plugins run natively in DaVinci Resolve 20 or later on macOS and install through the free Paperwolf Studio app, which also handles activation and updates. Single plugins are 39 (FOUND and SONAR 59); the Analog, Glitch and Camera packs are 79 to 89; the full suite of eight is 179 and includes every product released in the next 12 months. A subscription is also available at 12 per month or 89 per year. Prices exclude VAT, which is added at checkout. Every plugin has a free trial with all features and a watermark, with no time limit. A 30% launch discount applies to everything until 30 November 2026.
