Digital Anarchy today announced it is launching a new update to its real-time skin retouching application for video editors with the release of Beauty Box v6.5. With this new update, Digital Anarchy is adding a new filter for eye and teeth whitening that uses machine learning to identify those areas. In addition to shine removal, these new features allow video editors to harness the power of Beauty Box's traditional algorithms along with AI to create a better-looking, more sophisticated image. All the AI features run locally on the users machine, nothing gets uploaded to the cloud, which means faster renders and safer data.

Some of the new capabilities in the latest release of Beauty Box 6.5 - with a focus on significant new features most requested by Digital Anarchy customers - include:

Beauty Box Whiten: Uses AI to identify eyes, mouth, and teeth, creating a mask that lets editors apply Beauty Box's color adjustments to only those areas. This lets video editors retouch eye whites or teeth without having to manually mask those areas. The user can make adjustments to the mask, like feathering it or grow/shrink it. The new Whiten feature provides a powerful solution to a difficult problem.

GPU Inference Engine: Powering the new features is a new AI inference engine developed from scratch by the Digital Anarchy development team. This new engine speeds up these features across different host applications. The inference engine is what does the heavy lifting of translating what is in the AI models to what gets rendered in the video editing apps. For speed and memory management purposes, it is important to have an engine that plays nicely with different host apps. Both Beauty Box Whiten and Shine Removal benefit from this.

Improved Face Detection: Developed for Beauty Box Whiten, this feature improves the accuracy and consistency of face detection, which means better tracking of one face when there are multiple people. Beauty Box Shine Removal also uses this new, upgraded technology.

AI Runs Locally: All AI based features run locally on your machine/GPU. No data is uploaded to the cloud or used for training our models. This speeds up processing and keeps your data secure.

Better After Effects Splines: The AI masks can be converted to masks in After Effects, allowing the editor to make adjustments, making it easy to customize the results. Beauty Box v6.5 brings even more accuracy and stability to these features.
