Polysynth now features Mutable Instruments' macro oscillators
Melbourne Instruments have just released a free firmware update that brings the engine behind Mutable Instruments' Braids Eurorack module to their desktop polysynth.
With the version 3.0.0 firmware installed, all of the Braids engine's 45 synthesis models can be run across the Nina's voices. The move greatly expands the synth's tonal range, with the new oscillator modes providing analogue VCO emulation, vowel and formant synthesis, two-operator FM, physical modelling of strings and wind instruments, wavetable synthesis with smooth interpolation, granular synthesis and electronic drum simulation. The new oscillators can be shaped using two of the parameters that featured on the original Eurorack module: Timbre and Colour, and can be freely mixed with the Nina's existing analogue VCOs.
For those interesting in checking out the new features, Melbourne Instruments will be showing off the Ninas capabilities at Superbooth 2026.
