Telsie T - SonicWorlds extended classic German Equaliser

Vintage broadcast experts release second plug-in

Telsie T is the second plug-in to be released by SonicWorld, a German audio company who specialise in servicing vintage broadcast equipment. Their first launch, Telsie S, delivered a meticulous recreation of the Siemens W295b equaliser, and this time it's the turn of another popular EQ design: the Telefunken W695.

Telsie T faithfully emulates the sound of the original module, promising wonderfully silky highs and tight bass , and includes a number of enhancements that make it more versatile than its analogue counterpart. Firstly, the low band offers a choice of five peak filter frequencies with Wide, Medium and Narrow Q-factor options in addition to the original 60Hz low shelf, and the high band complements the modules 10kHz peak filter with a 15kHz high-shelf option; both bands feature 15dB of gain. The mid band then offers a peak filter with up to +8dB of gain in 2dB steps, and a choice of six frequencies.

Low- and high-pass filters are present, and all three bands boast a Harmonics section equipped with Drive and Out controls - the former can be used to introduce harmonics into the signal, while the latter makes it possible to compensate for the resulting level change. The plug-in is also equipped with a crossover section that allows users to determine the frequencies at which the three bands merge. SonicWorld say that they implemented the function because the broad ranges of the high and low bands in the original module would often result in cuts/boosts impacting a wider frequency range than desired.

Compatibility Telsie T is supported on Macs running macOS 10.13 and above or PCs running Windows 11. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are all available.
