The shortlist for this year's RT Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year 2025, in association with IMRO & IRMA, was announced today on RT 2FM's Tracy Clifford Show.
The shortlist is as follows:

As part of RT 's continued commitment to promoting Irish music, 2FM celebrates the announcement of the shortlist across its schedule today with All Irish All Day from 6am to Midnight. 2FM's Tracy Clifford Show will continue to broadcast a week of RT Choice Music Prize announcements and activities, with further details on all of prizes, including Irish Song of the Year.

Irish Breakthrough Artist - shortlist Wednesday 21st Jan

Irish Song of the Year 2025 - shortlist Friday 23rd Jan
(winner announced 5th March on 2FM daytime)
The public vote for Song of The Year will open on Friday 23rd January - Sunday 22nd February.

I love this time of year when we get to celebrate the very best in Irish music through this year's RT Choice Music Prize. The albums, the songs and the artists we produce in this country are world class. After another excellent year for Irish artists and their music, there is so much to look forward to right across the categories and as usual, some real gems to discover. The Irish Album of the Year 2025 will be announced live from Vicar St on RT 2FM in a special show 7-11pm on Thursday 5th March hosted by Beta Da Silva. The show will feature live performances from some of the shortlisted acts, further details on the line-up to be announced soon. The 21st annual RT Choice Music Prize will once again celebrate the best in Irish recorded music. The Prize has become one of the music-industry highlights of the year since its
inception in 2005. The Irish Album of the Year award is chosen from a shortlist of ten albums by a panel of eleven Irish music media professionals and industry experts. The list of judges is available via http://www.choicemusicprize.ie
The winning Album of the Year act will receive 10,000, a prize fund which has been provided by The Irish Music Rights Organization (IMRO) and The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA). All shortlisted acts will receive a specially commissioned award.
RAAP, Culture Ireland, FMC, Minding Creative Minds, Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet and Coimisi n na Me n are also official project partners of the RT Choice Music Prize.

The RT Choice Music Prize is organised by co-founder David Reid. Editor of RT Brainstorm & co-founder of the prize, Jim Carroll, is the chairman of the judging panel for Irish Album of the Year. It is unique in that the judging of the Irish Album of the Year focuses simply and solely on the music (as opposed to sales or airplay). A new panel of judges has been put in place for each of the three categories. The full list of all the judges will be on the RT Choice Music Prize website starting 19th January, and through the week as each shortlist is announced, along with some further details.
