Mediacom Deploys Riedel Easy5G for Wireless Camera Covera...

Riedel Communications today announced that Mediacom has purchased and deployed Easy5G , Riedel's Private 5G solution, for live broadcast coverage of La Vuelta in Monaco. La Vuelta is a professional cycling race, and Mediacom independently deployed and operated the Easy5G system to provide wireless connectivity for two HD cameras covering the race departure ceremony at Monaco's Place du Palais Princier.

Mediacom selected Easy5G for its ability to deliver dedicated, broadcast-grade wireless connectivity within minutes of setup without the congestion risk of public 5G, the instability of Wi-Fi, or the time and complexity of cabling a temporary production network. For a high-profile, single-take event such as the La Vuelta departure in Monaco, with no room for an interrupted camera feed, that reliability was the deciding factor.

For the Monaco deployment, Mediacoms crew set up Easy5Gs private 5G network around Place du Palais Princier ahead of the race departure, establishing a dedicated wireless uplink for two HD cameras covering the ceremony. Unlike public 5G or Wi-Fi, which can struggle with congestion and instability in dense, high-profile settings, Easy5Gs dedicated network frequencies delivered reliable, broadcast-grade video contribution throughout the event with no cabling required and no drop in quality.

At live events, there are no second takes. When the cameras are rolling, the network simply has to work. Mediacoms deployment at La Vuelta in Monaco highlights how Easy5G gives production teams the confidence to get up and running quickly with a dedicated wireless network they can deploy in minutes and rely on from first shot to last, said Anthony Zuyderhoff, Executive Director Global Sales, Riedel Communications.

We needed a network we could trust for a live broadcast with no room for error and no time for a complex setup. Easy5G gave us a dedicated wireless link for both cameras in minutes, and it simply worked, said Anthony Fouque, CEO, Mediacom.

The Monaco deployment underscores Easy5Gs positioning as a turnkey wireless production network purpose-built for video contribution at live events combining the reliability of a dedicated network with the simplicity of deployment previously associated with Wi-Fi. The systems uplink-optimized architecture is designed for demanding broadcast and event scenarios, where reliable video transmission is critical and setup time is limited.
