Game of Thrones season 8 still has to answer these 6 questions

11/05/2019

I don't know about you but I'm a bit worried. There are only two episodes of Game of Thrones season 8, and the showrunners still have a ton of questions they need to address.

At this stage in the Game (see what I did there?) I doubt they'll have enough time to tie up all the loose ends. Let's have a look at some of the pressing questions we need answers for.

Photo: thesouthafrican.comGame of Thrones season 8 - Pressing questionsWill Daenerys go full Mad Queen'?Daenerys Targaryen is cutting a solitary figure. She's lost Jorah, large chunks of her army, and she's down to just the one dragon. To ad insult to injure, she's also just seen Missandei cut down in front of her eyes.

All this while dealing with the knowledge that she no longer has the strongest claim to the iron throne. Up to now, there's been a lot of signs that Dany is teetering. It's not unfair to say that she's at a crossroads, without a lot of the people left to help her overcome those mad king' inclinations.

It's a dangerous time for everyone around the queen, and I suggest Tyrion and Varys tread carefully as their plotting could be the straw that breaks the dragon's back, so to speak. If you're still not convince, watch this:

Game of Thrones season 8: Here's who died in the Battle of Winterfell

Will we ever get Cleganebowl'?It seems like this one is a bit less of mystery. The Hound and Arya have left Winterfell, and it seems a dead certainty now that the Hound and the Mountain will finally get the showdown we've been waiting for.

Recall when they met up in season 7 in King's Landing? The Hound told the Mountain in so many words that his days are number. If he doesn't annoy Arya and get left for death again, that is.

Remember me? Yeah, you do. You're even [expletive] uglier than I am now. What did they do to you? It doesn't matter. That's not how it ends for you, brother. You know who's coming for you. You've always known.

The Hound to The Moutain.Game of Thrones season 8 episode 2: Here's what you may have missed

Who will sit on the Iron Throne? The Night King was defeated halfway through the final season, and that's left us with 3 episodes to resolve the destiny of the Iron Throne. Now with 2 episodes to go, it seems like Cersei is in the driving seat.

Daenerys' army has been decimated after Cersei nullified the threat of her dragons. Add to that the fact that even Daenerys' closest advisors are beginning to turn on her.

It's hard to see how the Dany and the Northern folk manage to stop squabbling long enough to take on the Lannister army, Euron's fleet and those Golden Company chaps. Good thing those elephants stayed behind.

Is Euron cocky enough to betray Cersei? This is the one wildcard despite the fact that Euron has played the role of the doting suitor so far, he's cut-throat, and he wants to be in charge.

I'd be surprised if he sits by and waits for his part of the power using diplomacy. It just doesn't seem like something that someone who believes in the iron price would do.

Surely he needs to done over on Cersei out of principle? We'll have to see how this unfolds. May we add that TV-Euron, when compared to the books, is a bit boring? But that's a debate for another day.

Who will kill, that other mad queen, Cersei Lannister?Arya? Tyrion? Jamie? Your guess is as good as mine but those are the top contenders for a number of reasons. Cercei is on Arya's list and Arya's biggest enemy. Recall that Melisandre said Arya will shut green eyes.'

Tyrion killed his father and Cercei is convinced - thanks to that Maggie The Frog propehcy - that Tyrion is the younger brother who will kill. That said, Jaime is also younger, even if only by a few seconds. My money is on Jaime or Arya.

Cersei is a human target, and it's really just a matter of who manages to get there first and not have their head squished like a grape by the Mountain.

Will we see Arya actually using her super duper Faceless Men powers? She's already saved the world by killing the Night King. Is she going to have another part to play in bringing peace to the realm?

And if she does, can we all just agree to forget all these claims to an ugly throne and just put her in charge of everything?

This, of course, is hardly a complete list. I also want to know what Podrick did to those woman, and if the Hound will ever get those darn chickens. He didn't the use the word darn.' I'm just being polite.
