Relief for the drought-stricken Western Cape continues to come in the form of early-season rainfall with more rain forecast for the region on Monday.
At last count, on Thursday 24 May 2019, the region's dams were sitting at 46.9% full a marked improvement on the 21.1% at roughly the same time last year.
Theewaterskloof is particularly promising, edging towards the 40% full mark. There is still some way to go before the drought can be declared over , but with the rainy season not in full swing yet, the outlook is promising.
And there is more rain on the way.
Theewaterskloof rainfall forecast - 27 May 2019AccuWeather predicts around 8mm of rainfall over the next 24 hours or so. It's not quite as dramatic as the rainfall earlier in the week, but every bit helps. VentuSky has a similar forecast.
Persistent rainfall is likely to begin the region in the early hours of Monday morning and persist until 22:00 in the evening.

AccuWeather predicts a smattering of rain in the early hours of Monday, lasting through the peak hour traffic rush.
Things should clear up around mid-morning and be clear for the commute home.
But don't stop being cautious about water useWhile the picture is much more positive compared to the same time last year, residents are urged to remain conscious about their water consumption. That means you should keep saving your shower water to flush your toilet and don't go around running a bath every day.
The worst might be over, but water remains a precious and finite resource. While mitigation plans are in full swing, these coming months are the most critical for ensuring summer starts with dam levels in good standing.
