Grass Valley at NAB 2016: Complete IP Integration with Glass-to-Glass Solutions
Helping customers support any format, any time for better storytelling
MONTREAL, March 3, 2016 As attendees descend on the Las Vegas Convention Center, April 16-21, much of the attention will be focused on IP technology and its anticipated impact on the broadcast industry. Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, has been developing advanced IP connectivity and solutions across its entire product line, which it will be showcasing along with a full range of other broadcast products in booth SL106 at NAB.
Broadcasters are all looking at IP technology to see how they can leverage the flexibility and agility to improve workflows and exploit new business opportunities, said Marco Lopez, president of Grass Valley. IP is well established in data centers, where it delivers high data rates, wide bandwidth and a system thats both format agnostic and scalable for whatever the future brings. Were delivering these same benefits for broadcasters with our Broadcast Data Center one that employs IP and adds vertically accurate switching, extremely low latency and, most important, supports live production.
Building on this important Broadcast Data Center model, Grass Valley is embracing IP in all of its products, enabling connectivity that makes the movement of content more efficient. As the demands for live production continue to intensify, broadcasters will bring IP solutions into the mix while maintaining SDI capability with integration solutions such as GV Node IP processing and edge routing platform and GV Convergent IP router control and configuration system.
To ensure that all IP solutions will integrate seamlessly, Grass Valley is embracing open industry standards in its development, and is one of the founding companies of AIMS, the Alliance for IP Media Solutions, an independent trade association committed to IP interoperability.
In addition to IP, Grass Valley will be demonstrating its latest solutions for capture, replay, switching, graphics processing, playout, automated production and more. Broadcasters will see solutions that are designed to enable complete format flexibility, from HD to 4K or HDR, making it easier to tell better stories. For those venturing into 4K production, Grass Valleys 4K over 1-wire solution uses TICO 4:1 visually lossless compression from intoPIX to carry a high-quality signal across a single wire. With a focus on upgradability and interoperability, Grass Valley gives broadcasters the confidence to invest in solutions today while preparing to embrace new opportunities in the future.
Regardless of whether content is being prepared for broadcast, OTT or video-on-demand, Grass Valleys digital media solutions make it easier to deliver content to multiple platforms and deploy new services. GV STRATUS Video Production and Content Management System, one of the most widely used systems for live programming, is installed in more than 200 locations worldwide. Designed for simplicity, efficiency and speed, it is a full set of production tools in one application that helps broadcasters better manage entertainment, on-air operations and production media workflows to stay competitive.
Grass Valleys LDX 86 camera family offers everything from super-slow-motion to 4K, extended color gamut and 15 F-stops of high dynamic range (HDR). The K2 Dyno replay family handles everything from 6X SSM to 4K, while modular Kayenne and Karrera switchers are offering increased 4K functionality and IP connectivity and iTX 4K/HD/SD integrated playout with IP/SDI flexibility and advanced workflow automation. Grass Valleys NVISION routers, Kaleido multiviewers, K2 servers and storage, EDIUS nonlinear editing software, Densit frames for signal processing, Vertigo graphics automation, and so much more are in use around the world making broadcasters more productive, efficient and successful every day.
