USSI Global Promotes Ted Korte to Chief Technology Officer

USSI Global has promoted Ted Korte to Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The promotion follows the recent appointment of Ed McGivern as Chief Revenue Officer as the company expands its engineering, technology, and managed services capabilities.

Reporting to President and CEO Anthony Morelli, Korte will oversee new technology, engineering, and related technical management teams across the company. His responsibilities include advancing system-level engineering capabilities, evaluating emerging technologies, and developing solutions across all three business units.

Korte joined USSI Global in 2021 as Vice President of Program Management and Innovation Lab, initially managing broadcast infrastructure initiatives tied to the first C-band spectrum transition for major broadcasters. He later became Vice President of Engineering and Technology. He led development of USSI Global's Media Transport Solutions Lab, a vendor-agnostic testing and engineering environment where broadcasters and media organizations can evaluate satellite, terrestrial IP, cloud, and alternative connectivity solutions for performance, resiliency, and operational requirements before committing to large-scale deployments. He has also been a technical voice in the company's C-band initiatives.

As CTO, Korte intends to extend that approach across USSI Global's digital signage, retail technology, and electronics repair services. The company's engineering teams are exploring audience analytics, IoT sensors, point-of-sale systems, specialized electronics, and other emerging technologies.

Before USSI Global, Korte spent nearly 22 years at Harris Corporation in engineering leadership roles across broadcast automation, servers, and transmission technologies. He later served as COO and CTO of Qligent, working on cloud-based quality monitoring, monitoring-as-a-service, and analytics for broadcast and OTT applications, and then returned to L3Harris to work on research and development involving satellite technologies, low-Earth-orbit ground stations, and global networking systems.

Korte spoke at NAB Show New York on Oct. 21 on the panel Broadcasters' Road to C-Band Replacement, which examined the C-band transition and the technology and operational decisions broadcasters face in evaluating future distribution strategies.

Ted has played an instrumental role in transforming how USSI Global approaches technology, engineering and customer engagement, says Morelli. He has helped us move beyond simply implementing systems to becoming a trusted technical advisor that customers and technology partners turn to for answers, ideas and innovative solutions. His promotion to CTO recognizes the leadership he has already demonstrated while positioning us to expand those capabilities across every part of our business.

One of the most rewarding parts of my five years at USSI Global has been helping establish our engineering team as a resource that customers and technology partners can turn to when they need to solve a problem, says Korte. We have built an environment where we can experiment with new technologies, understand how different systems work together and translate those discoveries into practical solutions. The Media Transport Solutions Lab is a great example of that philosophy. It has helped us establish credibility as a technical partner while opening doors to new customer relationships and business opportunities.

Our customers increasingly need more than equipment installation or individual technical services. They need a partner that understands their business, can help design the right solution and has the resources to implement and support it. We have an exceptional engineering team, and my goal is to continue building on their expertise while finding new ways to bring value to our customers.
