ESPN Player Will Deliver Live, On-Demand Coverage of College Football Playoff

ESPN Player will deliver extensive live and on-demand coverage of the finale of the NCAA College Football season as the 2016 National Champion is decided at the College Football Playoff. In addition, ESPN Player is launching a brand new NCAA Bowls & Playoff Pass, which will allow access to the service for the entire Bowl and Playoff season. This pass will mean fans can enjoy all of ESPN Player's NCAA content for more than four weeks, including 30+ Bowl games and the College Football Playoff.

The College Football Playoff (CFP) features the nation's top four teams, as they compete to reach the National Championship game in two semi-finals on New Year's Eve. The teams, chosen by an expert selection committee, are: number one seed Alabama, who completed the season unbeaten; number two seed Clemson, number three seed Ohio State and number four seed Washington.

Washington will take on Alabama in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl semi-final on New Year's Eve at 8pm GMT while Clemson and Ohio State will face off in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl semi-final, which kicks off at 12 a.m. UK time. The winners progress to the College Football Playoff Championship game on Monday 9th January at the 65,890-capacity Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

These Playoff games, and more than 30 other Bowl games, will all be covered live, and available on-demand, on ESPN Player. The three-week-long Bowl Season kicks off with five games on Saturday, December 17, and continues into the New Year. Subscribers can tune into the action on desktop as well as taking it on the go on mobile and iPad. Fans can stream their favourite teams to the big screen via Chromecast and Apple TV (Airplay).

ESPN Player will bring subscribers comprehensive coverage throughout, including ESPN's acclaimed and award-winning pre-game show, ESPN College Gameday, bringing authentic build-up and insight into the biggest games direct from the US.

The semi-final between Clemson and Ohio State will feature quarterback Deshaun Watson who finished second in the voting for the 2016 Heisman Trophy for the nation's best collegiate football player. Clemson's Deshaun Watson threw for 37 passing touchdowns and ran for six rushing touchdowns as he lead the Tigers in defence of their ACC Championship crown. However, Ohio State, who have lost just once this season, have a history of facing - and beating - Heisman finalists.

Washington, lead by Jake Browning, will look to do what no team has been able to do this season - beat Alabama. The Crimson Tide are unbeaten and looking to secure their second consecutive National Championship and fourth in seven years. This Alabama defense is packed full of future NFL stars and has become feared throughout the country for its reputation of being competitive to the point of hateful. The Huskies will need to find a way to unlock this Alabama defense to cause an upset and earn their place in the National Championship.
