She's quite vain': Zandile Msutwana on her Grootboom and Sons' roleThe actress says playing Funeka is a different experience for her because of how flamboyant the character is.

Talented actress, Zandile Msutwana, who is popularly known for her portrayal as Vuyiswa Maake on Mzansi Magic's , The Queen recently joined a new drama series, Grootboom, and Sons as a lead role, Funeka.

The Monday night drama premiered last month (October) with a majority Xhosa cast, such as Scandal!'s Bongile Mantsai, Isibaya's Charmaine Mtinta and many more.

GROOTBOOM AND SONS' BACKGROUND The actress described her character as devious, manipulative, selfish, and stylish in an interview with Daily Sun.

She's quite vain and she was such a challenge to portray but research helped tremendously.

The story is centred around a funeral parlour which is a family business that gets inherited by the younger sibling, Vuyo, after their father's death.

The younger sibling is given the business because she's more responsible than the older sibling, Funeka, whose life is all about having fun.

Msutwana's character walks away from the family business to open her own cosmetics business, gets into trouble, and runs back home to be part of the family business again.

VUYISWA VERSUS FUNEKA Viewers first met the actress back in 2007 when she played the role of Akua Yenana on SABC 1's drama series, Society

She's also appeared on shows such as Soul City, Zabalaza, and Igazi to name a few, and states that she owes her longevity to viewers' support.

The actress told True Love that her current characters, Vuyiswa and Funeka are complete opposites as The Queen's Vuyiswa is a good cop who is not corrupt whilst Funeka is.

She likes shortcuts and money, is devious and manipulative, and uses her sexiness to get through life.

She's also a lot more stylish than Vuyiswa I must say.

She enjoys playing Funeka because she keeps her on her toes and allows her to grow and learn and references her role to TV personalities such as Bonang and V-Mash (Vinolia Mashego).
