The National Film and Video Foundation, an agency of the Department of Arts and Culture, embarked on a trip to the International Emmys leading a delegation of South Africa's iEmmy judges.
The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is a membership-based organization comprised of leading media and entertainment figures from over 50 countries and 500 companies from all sectors of television including Internet, mobile and technology.
The NFVF is recognized as the official representation of South African film industry, therefore it was afforded the status of hosting the semi-final round of judging of the International Emmys. Being recognized by the International Emmys is an honour not only for the NFVF, but for the country as a whole. Our industry has come a long way, our films receive rave reviews globally and our talent is now on a constant basis being utilized to decide successes of major projects. This will continue to bring attention to the country, ensuring that the film industry thrives and continues to have massive impact to the local economy, says NFVF CEO Zama Mkosi.
The judging took place on Tuesday 07th July 2015 in Johannesburg. South African jurors comprised of credible industry representatives with both television and film expertise. The categories that were assessed during the process are Best Performance by an actor (Latin America) and TV Movie / Mini-Series (Europe).
The following are the jurors who were selected to judge the semifinal round, and two of them will be travelling with the NFVF to represent the SA Film industry:

South Africa's involvement in the judging of the iEmmys assists in elevating the profile of the local television and film industries as well as that of talent. The NFVF in partnership with industry bodies host the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) annually, therefore this process serves as a learning tool to be implemented during the SAFTAs judging, as the industry embarks on the 10-year celebration of the awards.
