Almost 12 months ago, the IABM asked speakers to predict where the TV industry would be in 10 years' time. Whilst most gave sage advice on the gentle movement to more updated technologies in various areas, Aframe's Founder and CEO David Peto was characteristically more bullish. And biased.

David will once again take to the stage at IABM's International Business Conference next month to express his passion for all things cloud as he attempts to explain Where's the money?

Indeed, the last time he spoke at the event, he likened the cloud to the invasive plant Japanese Knotweed, in the way that once it enters an organisation it quickly spreads as users rapidly adopt the technology and share it with colleagues.

This can of course be a massive headache for Broadcast Engineers trying to retain control over the organization's technology choices, particularly in the high-pressure, fast-moving environment of the television network.

Peto's advice for dubious broadcast TV executives worried about the cloud's encroachment into their businesses? Embrace it.

After five years of speaking with engineers and high level execs at the world's largest and important broadcasters, I have the utmost sympathy for the massive changes they've had to make, and continue to make every day. They are constantly barraged with new technology from all angles in acquisition, in transfer, in editing, in storage, in distribution and in delivery. And while they have to carefully consider each shiny new thing, the cloud is one advancement that's here to stay, and one I believe they are already firmly behind.
