BCPC West is coming to LA with a Launch Party on June 11 followed by a series of free panel discussions throughout the summer.
The Blue Collar Post Collective is an accessible and focused grassroots non-profit, which began in New York City in early 2014. It has since grown into a community of over 2000 post-professionals from all over the world who share the belief that supporting each other, uniting the industry, and embracing emerging talent is the right thing to do. The organization's social meet-ups have facilitated relationships between new and established post-pros, and its free educational events are regularly filled to capacity.
BCPC monthly meet-ups in New York City bring the post community together and help build relationships across craft roles, companies and experience levels.
After significant demand to start hosting events in Los Angeles, BCPC board member Kylee Pe a stepped up with a committee of volunteers who also work in post production to build and tailor the organization for the West coast.
There are a number of post user groups and meet-ups to choose from here, but Los Angeles has never seen anything like the BCPC. By keeping our events free and community-driven, we're providing the access that underrepresented and underprivileged individuals need to thrive in post-production in LA. We listen to what our members want, and we do that -- no pay walls or ulterior motives.
After a Launch Party in Hollywood on June 11, BCPC West will present a summer series of free discussions on topics that are vitally important, but often overlooked, representing the Blue Collar Post Collective's core values. The first of these sessions will be Breaking Barriers: Making Post More Inclusive , featuring a diverse panel of professionals across all areas of post discussing real solutions to important issues currently facing our Industry.

BCPC Co-President Janis Vogel says, The BCPC is all about creating non-intimidating environments for post-production cavedwellers to come out of their shell. Whether emerging talent, transitioning careers, or long-time post-pros our members are relieved by the welcoming atmosphere we create. We're inspired by the simple act of providing members with something we didn't have at the outset of our careers. And we're expanding rapidly because we're not the only people in our community who believe that this is the right thing to do.
The Blue Collar Post Collective does not charge fees for membership, attendance or participation, and is run entirely by volunteers who work full-time in the post production industry. The organization is famous for for their unique educational, networking and professional development events.
They are also applauded for their mentorship, support and employment assistance programs, and the recently-announced Professional Development Accessibility Program (PDAP), which awards financial assistance to low-income post professionals so they can have equal access to important industry conferences, events and trade shows.
The BCPC West Launch Party will be held June 11 from 6PM to 8PM at St. Felix Hollywood (1602 N Cahuenga Blvd). People from all areas of the post production industry, at all levels of experience, are welcome to attend this social meet-up. Details about the summer discussion series will be released soon.
