The new Continuum VR Unit from Boris FX, the leading creative visual effects plug-in developer, delivers five useful and fast filters for professional reframing, editing, and finishing 360 video. The recently released 360 toolset fills a gap in the rapidly growing 360/VR immersive filmmaking industry which requires specialized tools to process spherical video formats. From now through May 31, 2018, Boris FX is offering the Continuum VR Unit as a free giveaway (a $199 value).

The Continuum VR Unit is currently the only single license, cross-host plug-in option on the market that enables preset sharing between editing, effects, and color correction/finishing stages - making it an invaluable time-saving tool for 360/VR post-production teams. Popular host application support includes: Adobe After Effects CC and Premiere Pro CC, Avid Media Composer, Apple FCP X, and OFX hosts such as Blackmagic Design's DaVinci Resolve, VEGAS Pro, and HitFilm.

Many of our customers are interested in testing the workflow, so for the month of May, we are showing our support to the 360 community by making it as simple as a download. Shain continues, Editors new to Boris FX software will find that these high quality filters complement the existing 360 tools found in Premiere, After Effects, and FCP X, however, an additional benefit of the Continuum VR Unit is its ability to bring a 360 workflow to systems that do not natively support 360 , such as Avid Media Composer and DaVinci Resolve.
The Continuum VR Unit delivers professional results with fast GPU-accelerated rendering. The five filters are: VR Reorient for repositioning or centering hero views; VR Insert for adding titles, graphics, and 2D elements to the spherical 360 workspace; VR Sharpen for applying the highest quality 360 video sharpening available using state-of-the-art algorithms; VR Flicker Fixer for eliminating or reducing luminance flicker with one simple click; and VR Blur for adding fast, high quality blurs optimized for spherical 360 video.
