aconnic launches iSphir OT security family, focusing on secure field connectivity and industrial resilience

aconnic AG (ISIN: DE000A0LBKW6), Munich, announces the launch of the iSphir OT security product family, expanding its network security portfolio to address the rapidly growing need for protection in operational technology (OT) environments and critical industrial infrastructure.

Across utility networks, including energy, transportation, manufacturing, and defense-related sectors, the convergence of IT and OT networks, rising geopolitical tensions and increasingly stringent regulatory requirements are intensifying cybersecurity demands. Industrial network operators are required to secure distributed field infrastructures while maintaining long equipment lifecycles, high availability, and stable operational processes. Traditional IT security approaches alone are not sufficient to meet those requirements.

The iSphir product family is purpose-built for OT environments and comprises dedicated industrial security components for different network layers. The solution core is the 1 and 10 Gigabit iGate secure field gateway, complemented by the iShield protection component for segmented and controlled OT communication.

The iGate secure field gateway offers software and hardware security within the iSphir architecture. It protects communication at the OT network edge by enabling secure and encrypted data transmission between field devices, aggregation layers, and central control systems. Designed for harsh industrial conditions, iGate combines industrial-grade hardware with secure boot mechanisms, protected key storage, and hardware-based encryption. This ensures reliable protection against unauthorized access, manipulation, and cyber threats in distributed and remote field deployments.

Complementing iGate, iShield extends the iSphir architecture by enabling policy enforcement, network segmentation, and controlled domain separation within industrial communication infrastructures. Together, iGate and iShield support a structured, defense-in-depth security model tailored to OT requirements.

Unlike conventional IT-focused solutions, iSphir is engineered for predictable lifecycle management, long-term stability, and operational continuity in environments where downtime and system instability are unacceptable. The product family supports operators in meeting regulatory expectations related to cybersecurity resilience, supply chain transparency, and critical infrastructure protection.

All iSphir components integrate with aconnic's MetroIntegrator network management system, enabling centralized configuration, monitoring, and policy control across distributed OT networks. This ensures operational transparency and consistent security governance throughout the infrastructure lifecycle.

With the launch of the iSphir OT security family, aconnic strengthens its position as a European provider of sovereign and industrial-grade security solutions. The iGate and iShield products are developed in Europe and manufactured in Germany, supporting trusted supply chains, long-term availability, and regulatory compliance for security-critical applications.
