TNT Sports Proceeds With 1080p HDR Shows as Rays-Guardians Series Shifts to Cleveland for Game 3

Production elements for the ALCS include Nucleus cameras, Proton cameras, UmpCam, Wire Cam

After notching three straight victories over the Chicago White Sox in the American League Division Series and snatching a win over the Tampa Bay Rays in ALCS Game 1 at Tropicana Field, the Cleveland Guardians head home to the shores of Lake Erie for Game 3 with the American League Championship Series tied at 1-1. TNT Sports, having produced a clean 10 postseason games, is continuing its 1080p HDR workflows for one of the more important stretches in a packed schedule of events.

The postseason is the unofficial start to the fall sports seasons for us, says Chris Brown, VP, technology and operations, TNT Sports. We always look forward to this time of year. The playoffs in Major League Baseball move really fast, and you have to be ready to react. This year is already shaping up to be another exciting year.

ALCS in 1080p HDR: 38 Cameras, Five NEP Trucks

Heading into Game 3, many of the technologies seen in St. Petersburg, FL will make their way to The Land. A total of 38 cameras are in use during this massively important series between these two franchises, and fans at home have been treated to tantalizing views from some of the most high-end pieces of equipment in the business: notably, a Wire Cam running along the third-base line, a Kaze Aerial Production-operated drone, an RF UmpCam worn by the home-plate umpire, a camera system featuring two Nucleus cameras that have replaced the traditional low-home camera, and five Proton cameras positioned on the foul poles and within the dugouts.

Kaze Aerial Production is operating the drones at both ballparks.In the broadcast compound, NEP Group is providing three mobile units for game coverage and two for onsite editions of MLB Leadoff and MLB Closer studio shows. The fleet at each ballpark comprises Supershooter 8, PX1, and Supershooter 54 for the game and Supershooter 22 and Supershooter 12 for the studio shows. PX1, in particular, has been added to the mix after making its debut during TNT Sports' second year of the NASCAR In-Season Challenge.

During the ALDS, many of these resources were spread across four ballparks: Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, NY; Rate Field in Chicago; and the homes of both the Rays and the Guardians. The five games between the Guardians and White Sox and the three games between the Rays and Yankees were covered by seven or eight cameras.

Behind the Mic: Star-Studded Commentary, Studio Teams

Besides meeting the moment with broadcast technology, TNT Sports has filled its commentary and studio teams with valuable voices from professional baseball. For all ALCS games, play-by-play announcer Brian Anderson is joined by analysts Jeff Francoeur and Ron Darling and reporter Lauren Shehadi. This postseason is the quartet's tenth consecutive season. The studio team comprises host Adam Lefkoe and analysts Jimmy Rollins, Curtis Granderson, and Pedro Mart nez.

For Yankees-Rays, this team included Anderson, Francoeur, and Shehadi; for White Sox-Guardians, play-by-play announcer Alex Faust, Darling, and reporter Lauren Jbara. Studio programming featured Lefkoe, Rollins, Granderson, and Mart nez.

Time for Reflection: Crew Recaps Successful Third Season

Beginning the postseason, TNT Sports is building on the success of an entire season's worth of coverage. During the regular season, for example, many of its games were produced via the Multi-Feed Production (MFP) model. NEP Supershooter 65 was one of the mobile units in this year's rotation that accommodated the remote-style productions.

[Supershooter 65] was designed around this property and our sixth Appear MFP kit, said Brown prior to the start of the 2026 regular season.

Among the personnel behind all the games, an all-for-one mentality enhanced the quality of shows. Spearheaded by the production duo of producer Jeff Randolph and director Matt Lipp and behind-the-scenes personnel like Production Manager Caz Grabowski, Remote Operations Manager Nicole Reethof, and Associate Manager, Technical Operations, Travis Cabellero, the crew was satisfied with their efforts all season long.

The regular season went exceptionally well, says Brown. This was our third full season, and, each year, we get more well-versed in executing. What that allows us to do is focus on both redundancy and resiliency.

TNT Sports continues its presentation of the American League Championship Series between the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays with Thursday afternoon's Game 3 at 1 p.m. ET on TBS and HBO Max. Game 4 will be broadcast on Friday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. If necessary, Game 5 will be played on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 8 p.m.; Game 6 will be played on Monday, Oct. 19; and Game 7 will be played on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
