IABM to host prestigious Game Changer Awards at NAB 31 Mar 2014

The IABM (International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers) is once again hosting its Game Changer Awards at the NAB Show taking place in April in Las Vegas. The awards recognise new products, processes, systems, services or developments shown at the event for the first time that demonstrate innovation and offer real benefits for end users.

The awards are open to all exhibitors at the NAB Show but in order to be eligible, the products or services must be demonstrable on the stand or nominees must provide proof of existing functionality.

A game changer is an idea that challenges the accepted rules and replaces convention with a new way forward that is what we're looking for. These innovations should also be commercially viable and ideally would also benefit society as a whole, explains Peter White, IABM chief executive.

The judges, a host of the industry's finest international journalists, industry technology specialists, business leaders and thought leaders, will submit nominations from the show floor on day one of the show. The final selection will be determined by a panel of experts chaired by John Ive, director of business development and technology at IABM.

The final selections will be based on criteria such as relevance, influence on the industry, impact potential over the next 12 months, and economic factors like ROI, cost of ownership and expected user savings. The panel will select five Game Changers, all of which will automatically be entered for the IABM Peter Wayne Award for Design and Innovation to be presented at the IABM Annual International Business Conference and Awards this December.

The winners will be announced at a cocktail reception on the IABM stand (#N6118) at 5.30pm on the second day of the exhibition, Tuesday 8th April.
