Screen Producers Australia CEO Matthew Deaner and Australian Film Television & Radio School CEO Neil Peplow today announced a joint initiative to deliver 1-2 day screen business short courses and masterclasses nationwide. Programs will commence in early 2017.
SPA plays an essential role in the Australian media industry by empowering Australian producers through high level networking and thought leadership. This significant partnership will combine AFTRS' demonstrated excellence in education across the entire screen sector with SPA's track record of providing targeted, sell-out, screen business and producing courses, Mr Deaner said.
Neil Peplow, AFTRS CEO, said: We are thrilled to be collaborating with SPA to present these courses across the nation. AFTRS brings more than four decades of experience in delivering exceptional industry relevant training for the Australian media industries, while SPA brings a strong focus on developing business skills and leadership in the sector.
The essential need for greater business skills was highlighted in the results of the comprehensive AFTRS industry skills survey released in July 2016. Industry practitioners named business skills as critical to the sustainability of media businesses of all sizes. The AFTRS and SPA partnership will address this need.
Screen Producers Australia (SPA) is a trade body representing the professional interests of leading Australian screen content businesses through high-level advocacy work and industrial expertise. SPA hosts SCREEN FOREVER annually.
The Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) is Australias national screen arts and broadcast school. AFTRS purpose is to find and empower Australian talent to shape and share their stories with the world by delivering future-focused, industry-relevant education, research and training. AFTRS is acknowledged as one of the top 15 international media Schools and its graduates have won numerous awards, including Oscars for Cinematography, Editing and Producing.
