SBS turns up the volume as the official Australian broadcaster for Eurovision Asia
Also, the search for Australia's 2027 Eurovision entry begins
Get ready for double the Eurovision. SBS has a huge year of music ahead, bringing Australians the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia from Bangkok, Thailand, this November, while also kicking off the search for Australia's next Eurovision act with the return of the SBS Song Portal for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027.
Eurovision heads to Asia for a brand-new chapter
For the first time, 11 countries will take to the stage in Bangkok, Thailand, on Saturday 14 November 2026, bringing together some of the region's most exciting artists and music for one huge celebration.
Australia won't be competing, but Eurovision fans won't miss a moment, with multi-hyphenate entertainer and global icon Courtney Act bringing all the action to Australian screens as SBS's Eurovision commentator.
The contest will feature artists representing Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Hosting the inaugural event are Thai television personalities Woody Milintachinda and Cindy Bishop. Woody is known for Woody Talk and is the founder of the S2O Songkran Music Festival, while bilingual English and Thai-speaking presenter Cindy is known internationally for Asia's Next Top Model.
The Eurovision Song Contest Asia will bring the region's music and artists together on a shared stage, with each country bringing its own voice and identity to the competition.
Australian fans can watch the Eurovision Song Contest Asia LIVE on SBS On Demand from midnight on Saturday 14 November, with a replay on SBS2 on Sunday 15 November.
The Eurovision song portal is back for 2027!
As SBS brings Eurovision's first Asian edition to Australian screens, the search also begins for the artist and song that could represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Burgas, Bulgaria.
Every year, Australia brings its own sound and perspective to Eurovision. From Delta Goodrem's global star power and Go-Jo's Milkshake Man to Voyager bringing synth metal and a keytar, Electric Fields making history with Yankunytjatjara language, Dami Im's powerhouse vocals, Kate Miller-Heidke defying gravity, and more, Australia's Eurovision acts have always done things their own way.
Now, SBS are searching for what comes next. SBS is looking for distinctive, contemporary songs ready to connect with people on one of the world's biggest music stages.
SBS is bringing back the SBS Song Portal for Eurovision 2027, inviting artists to register their interest in representing Australia and songwriters to submit an original song for consideration.
The SBS Song Portal will be open from Saturday 17 October to Saturday 7 November 2026.
Australia's entry for Eurovision 2027 will be chosen through an internal SBS selection process. Submitting a song or registering interest through the portal does not guarantee selection.
Eligible songs must:
Run for no longer than three minutes
Include at least one Australian citizen in the songwriting team
Not have been released or publicly performed, in whole or in part, before Tuesday 1 September 2026
