On 29th November 2016 the Thales Board of Directors, acting on a proposal from the Public Sector, co-opted Delphine G ny-Stephann, Vice-President for Corporate Planning & Strategy at Saint-Gobain, to succeed Thierry Aulagnon as a board member. Her term as a director will run until the end of the Annual Shareholders' Meeting that will be held to approve the 2017 financial statements.

The Board of Directors also noted the appointment of two new employee board members by the union organisations: Anne-Marie Hunot-Schmit and Fr d rique Sainct, who will succeed Martine Saunier and Dominique Floch for a period of 4 years as of 9th December 2016.

As of that date, the Board will have 16 members including 8 women (50%). Six of the 14 members appointed by Annual Shareholders' Meeting will be women, thus exceeding the 40% statutory threshold for 2017.

Delphine G ny-Stephann graduated from Ecole Polytechnique, Ecole des Ponts ParisTech and from Coll ge des Ing nieurs in Paris. In 1994 she began her career in the French Ministry of Economy & Finance, working at the Treasury Directorate General, International Affairs Department, before being appointed Head of Division at the State Holdings Agency (Agence des Participations de l'Etat) in 1999.

Delphine G ny-Stephann joined Saint-Gobain in 2005 as Development, Mergers & Acquisitions Director of the High Performance Materials Sector. In 2009, she became Financial Director for the Ceramic Materials Activity then, in 2013, External Venturing Director and Mergers & Acquisitions Manager for the Innovative Materials Pole. In October 2014, she joined the Compagnie de Saint-Gobain to become Vice-President for Corporate Planning & Strategy and a member of the Saint-Gobain Group Management Committee. She also serves as a director of Saint-Gobain Isover and Saint-Gobain PAM.

Anne-Marie Hunot-Schmit is a graduate of the IAE Paris business school and holds a degree in applied mathematics. She joined Dassault Electronique in 1987 as a software developer and filed the first patent for the GPWS/GCAS ground collision warning and avoidance system. In 1998, she became a member of the first contract management team on the Mirage 2000 programmes. She joined Thales corporate management in 2007, as head of price control. Since the autumn of 2016, Anne-Marie Hunot-Schmit has served as head of financial control for ground transportation bids and projects.

Fr d rique Sainct graduated from the Ecole Centrale de Paris with an engineering degree in 1982 and in 1984 she joined A rospatiales Cannes facility, which became part of Alcatel in 1998, then part of Thales Alenia Space in 2007. She has held a number of positions in satellite programmes, specialising first in attitude control and then in mission analysis, for telecom customers in Europe and export markets. Since 2006, she has been a technical expert for the In-Orbit Operations business.
